All I can say is that if they change the uniform, they might as well change the
name
while they're at it, because the Americans with no shield wouldn't be the
Amerks.

Keep us updated ... if they move to kill the shield, I'll be looking to scoop up
a
couple of the old ones.

I love to wear my Amerks gear during pickup games here in Orlando ... every time
I
do, I get two questions ... (a) is that a real team? and/or (b) Hey! An Amerks
fan,
cool jersey! Where ya from?

Either way, I love the attention it gets, and it gets the attention BECAUSE of
the
shield.

With the IHL dumping small market teams (just lost Long Beach last week), the
time
may come when the IHL and AHL merge. That'll be great in one way, bad in
another.
Great because it would make from a very strong second-tier league below the NHL;
great because there are some very big cities represented in the IHL and AHL;
great
because some of the marginal teams in the AHL could then move down to a league
where
they could be more competitive.

It would be bad because then my former hometown team the Amerks would have to
face
my other favorite - the Solar Bears. God only knows which jersey I'd wear, and
who
I'd root for :)
