I, for one, hope I never see it. There are a few sports logos that are absolute classics-the kind fans automatically associate with their teams. Whenever you see a winged wheel, don't you think of the Detroit Red Wings? And what would the Canadiens be without the bleu, blanc et rouge?
To me, the Amerks shield is exactly the same. You see it, you know exactly what team you're looking at.
By the way, have the Amerks used the same design since '56? If they have, I think that's one more reason to hold onto it. Again, when's the last time the Yankees changed uniforms? Or the Packers?
The new Syracuse logo does look cool, but too many of the new ones are ridiculous. I'd be worried we'd get something we'd regret. I keep envisioning the Gorton's Islanders Fisherman, the Burger King on the L.A. sweater, or that Bruins' third jersey featuring Winnie the Pooh.
