Amerks Post-Game Summary--Amerks 2, Syracuse Crunch 1
Craig Fisher's first goal of the 1999-2000 season gave the Rochester
Americans a very early 1-0 lead in last night's game in Syracuse and helped
the Amerks go up 2-0 on the very young season. Assisting on the power-play
goal at 1:59 of the opening period were Mike Hurlbut and Dimitri Kalinin.
During another Amerk power-play opportunity, Reggie Savage of the Crunch
notched a short-handed goal to tie the game up and end the scoring in the
first period.
Randy Cunneyworth set up Denis Hamel's goal at 14:57 of the final period
of play. Hamel's third goal in two games earned the Amerks the victory over
their Empire Division and I-90 rivals. Serving time in the box for two
minutes during the game were Matt Davidson (tripping), Mike Nicholishen
(cross-checking), Jason Cipolla (holding), Mike Hurlbut (high sticking), Doug
Houda (hooking), Martin Biron (roughing), Dimitri Kalinin (holding) and Denis
Hamel (roughing).
Biron stopped 32 of 33 shots on goal in the game while Rochester put 24
(12-3-9) on the Syracuse net. Rochester was also 1-9 on the power play,
making them 2-16 in two games. Rochester's next game is at home on Friday,
October 8 when the Philadelphia Phantoms come to the Blue Cross Arena at the
