Hi Everyone,
I've written a good table tennis game, probably the only decent one available
for some strange reason, and you can download it free here:

Hello there,

I wonder if there is any kind
of exercise that you can use to be able to generate
lots of spin at command. I can put a spin on the ball
but I see some other players that seem to generate a
very strong spin on the ball without too much effort.
Is this a skill that they acquired? or is it just a
natural talent? I know that you have to use you wrist to
spin the ball but is that all there is to it ?
Thanks in advance for the tips.
I stay in Moristown County, NJ, US.
I'm
looking for anybody who can play pingpong with me. Of
course, any new training methods or techniques will be
very apealing and helpful to me. I'd like to share my
experience with you.
Hi:

I am in Silicon Valley. I am looking
for a training partner to pratice drills, and for
pratice games. Preferably you should know the basics
drills or willing to learn. Ideally we could learn from
one another to hone our table tennis skills.

I
am in San Jose and also visit Monterey County
frequently. Interested please contact me at

Im currently starting a Ping Pong club in My high school in Lafayette,
Louisiana.(Saint Thomas Moore). If I can get it rolling we might be able to
play. Reply!
Hey I recently started a ping-pong club at my high school and i was wondering if
anyone knew anywhere where we could find competition or play against anyone, i
live in Baton Rouge Louisiana
Yeoww! Howdy? Just like you I'm also a new
member. Guess there's not so many of us here in the club.
Mind telling me what prompted you to join? By the way,
if you happen to be in Los Angeles area, give me a
buzz and we'll rally for a little while. I'm always
looking for partner to play with.

If you fancy “experimenting” with the Rubbers you
are using give some thought to using SHORT PIMPLED
Rubber. Why ?

Well, historically short pimpled
rubbers were best suited to close to the table blocking
games as the generation of spin was somewhat limited
due to their being less surface area on the rubbers
to generate friction and thus spin the
ball.

However, technology has moved on and things are a little
different today. As an example take the Friendship 802.
This is a short pimpled rubber, which has some
interesting characteristics. The individual pimples on the
rubber has additional pimples on them therefore allowing
the rubber to give more “bite” on the ball and
therefore more spin.

The above mentioned rubber,
apparently, ( After talking to an International Coach ) is
being used more and more by some of the “chopping”
community as it provides a much higher level of control
compared to the scary Long pimpled rubbers.

I was
playing this coach yesterday and noticed that this rubber
was allowing my opponent to spin and counter attack
very easily with less “effort” compared to my heavy
looping routine.

When he defended with it, he was
able to generate a “wobble” affect with spin and when
attacking was able to “hit” or “punch” the ball to me
therefore giving no bounce on my side of the table and
giving me far less time to recover – It was very
effective
( Although I beat him in the end – Yippee for
left handers ! )

Another alternative rubber
would be TSP – Spin Pips Chop. When it comes to
deciding the thickness of the sponge, it a personal
preference but I would try the 1.5mm – 1.7mm for all round
attacking and 1.2mm – 1.5mm for all-round defence. Its
quite possible someone you know may be using this type
of rubber so try and use that first then there’s no
cost ! It does require different skills so you may not
like it however, it will give you an appreciation of
the type of rubber itself so when you find your
opponent using it, you will have a better understanding of
the benefit and cost of using it.
( Tip – keep the
ball short against the short pimples as less spin can
be generated over the table then ATTACK the return –
Have no mercy ! )

Anyway, hope this is of
interest and let us know your thoughts on this subject
?

Kind Regards

Lee
Hello,
I've written a document about the
Racket and its importance to the player. Unfortunately,
it is apprently too long to post on this Message
board.

If you would like a copy, I will be happy to send it
to you. Please send me your request via E-mail to
leeston@... and I'll send it to you.

I am happy to
discuss any of its content via the message

Hello,
The ball must be placed in the plam of
your flat hand, above and behind the white line of the
table. The ball must then be thrown upwards only, to a
minimum height of 6 inches above the hand. The ball can
only be struck, once the ball is falling.
I
envisage that the rule will change again this year as too
many players are able to take advantage of the service
by shielding the point of contact.
It is rumoured
that the ITTF are looking at chanding the rules so
that the ball must be struck in front of the body and
cannot be shielded by the server.
In reality, this
means the end of the high toss serve on the forhand as
we know it - but is that really such a bad thing
?
Furthermore, the size of ball is chaging from 38mm to 40mm
which will affect the way we play today as it will be
slower by about 10% and the amount of spin generated
will reduce by some 6%.
If you would like me to go
into the consequenses of this then let me know
?
Hope this helps ?

Kind Regards

Lee
I just play with other friends at home or at my
youth group, and we dont really toss the ball in the
air on the serve. In tournaments and stuff, Is there
a rule about a certain height that you should throw
the ball before you hit it?
yes i agree with lee. to get maximum spin it is
most useful to use your wrist and aplly as much
explosive power as possible. And tossing the ball higher is
quite good too.

You can put pace on the ball
because change is good as not to put your opponent into a
rythm of controlling your serve. change of pace is
quite useful, i think.

cheers
khanh
I find that to generate a serve with maximum
spin, you need to focus on "touch" when striking the
ball and using your wrist to sweep the bat over the
ball.

Furthermore, to ensure you do not put too much pace on the
ball, thus inviting your opponent to attack, strike the
side, underneath or top of the ball rather that the
back.

Why not try to through the ball up at different
hights - use can use the energy generated by gravity as
the ball falls to convet into pure spin by
redirecting the energy line on the ball.

It does work
but take practice. I note that this is most
noticeable when doing a high toss serve on the backhand -
its amazing how successful it is.

Give it a go
and let me know how you get on.

Best Wishes to
you all.

Kind Regards

Lee
