The San Diego Sockers said goodbye to the 2002-03 season with a 13-11
loss to the Kansas City Comets in the Western Conference Semi-Final
Game. The Comets move on to play the Milwaukee Wave in the Western
Conference Final on Sunday, April 6.
Kansas City was fast to the scoreboard with a goal just 36 seconds
into the game by Miodrag Djerisilo off an assist from Dino Delevski,
who later scored at 1:24 in the second quarter in a shootout.
San Diego fought back with a power-play goal by midfielder Mariano
Bollella, off an assist from Robbie Aristodemo. Nino DaSilva closed
the half with a goal at 2:54, giving the Comets a 6-2 lead.
Jeff Davis opened the third quarter with a three-point goal at 3:28
off an assist from Franck M'Bemba. Aristodemo scored a three pointer
of his own at 6:27 in the third, assist to Bollella, cutting the KC
lead to 9-5.
Bollella continued his scoring run with a goal at 6:13 in the fourth,
cutting the KC lead to two. DaSilva scored his second goal of the
game at 8:15 in the fourth, unassisted. Sockers defender Gaston
Pernia cut the lead to two again with a goal at 12:15, assist to Paul
Wright.
With Aristodemo as sixth attacker, DaSilva dishes to Delevski for a
two-point goal at 12:32, giving the Comets a 13-9 advantage.
The Sockers finish the season with a 14-22 regular-season record and
a 14-23 overall record.
