2007 FIFA Women's World Cup -
CONCACAF Gold Cup - Nov. 2006
Our region's Gold Cup begins this weekend,
is qualifying tournament for World Cup.
The Gold Cup tournament winner and the runner-up will qualify automatically to
the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup in China. The 3rd place team from the CONCACAF
event will face Japan in a single match play-off to be played on neutral ground
next April in China.
Six teams total will compete in the 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup taking
place in two USA venues from 19-26 November.
Jamaica, Mexico, Panama and Trinidad & Tobago will play their first round
matches this Sunday in Miami, FL. The first round victors will then advance to
the semi-finals and meet either Canada or the host, USA at the Home Depot Center
in Carson, CA on Wednesday 22nd (Thanksgiving eve).
The final games will take place on Sunday 26th at Home Depot Center (3rd
place game and the Women’s Gold Cup Championship match).
