2-27-2006 How to Take Strikes Better and Counter-Attack Even When You're Hurt

Properly learning to take strikes is as much a part of good self-defense and martial arts training as learning to punch and kick. In all the years I've spent in the martial arts however, I had never run across a good system of drills and exercises to take students step by step in as safe as possible manner, through the process of learning to take punches and kicks and increase the martial art student's confidence and reflexes in order to counter-attack even if the student has been injured.

Guess they don't call me “The Drill Man” for nothing. By utilizing my background in Methods of Teaching Physical Education, Adaptive Physical Education, coaching, and over 30 years of martial arts. I developed a method of teaching students, either one on one or in groups, how to take punches and kicks AND develop a reflex to hit back even if your students are hurt.

These video clips contain my entire method of training students to take strikes from the beginning of non-striking drills all the way to developing a reflex of counter-attacking EVEN WHEN THE STUDENT IS HURT.

Is primarily for announcements of the Honolulu Sparring Club ran by Master Ron Pohnel. Seven time international tournament champion.

Ron's a great guy with two television programs. I suggested using a Yahoo Group to announce sparring club sessions tournaments etc. since it has a calendar files section and everything we need. I also think this group would be great to make other announcements concerning any events in Hawaii martial arts oriented.

This is a publishing forum to give content to other martial arts websites NOT a discussion forum though please feel free to submit your own tip or counter-tip.
