To All--

Due to inclimate weather last weekend, the Eastside Volleyball Club based in East Peoria, Illinois was forced to cancel the Pepsi Cola Festival of Spikes Tournament. The tournament for Junior Girls 15U-18U has been re-scheduled for February 10-11, 2001.  The same forms and sanction numbers from the December 16-17, 2000 date are to be used when registering teams as the slate is clean for potential teams.

Secondly, we still have openings in our All Sport Spike Attack Tournament to be held on January 13-14, 2001, as well as a few spots at our other dates in our series of tournaments. Please feel free to peruse our website at www.eastsidevb.com for further information and dates.

Our club is extremely proud of the fine facility, that is second to none, that we use for our events.  The facility resides on 120 acres on a bluff in Central Illinois, and contains 8 softball/baseball diamonds, 4 soccer fields, a 4000 seat stadium, and a sports recreation building that houses our 3 olympic sized volleyball courts.  Within the faulty is a viewing mezzanine, a snack bar, and an olympic training center that is utilized by the professional football team, Peoria Pirates.  Attached to the recreation building is Splash Down Aquatic Center that is run by the Fon Du Lac Park District from Memorial Day to Labor Day. We are also proud to call Eastside Centre the home of our very own Pepsi Cola Illinois State Girls All Star Volleyball Classic that was recently held, and featured some of the finest senior volleyball players throughout Illinois.

Happy Holidays!!

Good Day!

The Eastside Volleyball Club, based in East Peoria,
Illinois is proud to present their 2001 Tournament
schedule for the upcoming season.

First, Our club is extremely proud of the fine
facility we use for our events. The facility resides
on 120 acres on a bluff in Central Illinois, and
contains 8
softball/baseball diamonds, 4 soccer fields, a 4000
seat stadium, and a sports recreation building that
houses our 3 olympic sized volleyball courts. Within
the faulty
is a viewing mezzanine, a snack bar, and an olympic
training center that is utilized by the professional
football team, Peoria Pirates. Attached to the
recreation
building is Splash Down Aquatic Center that is run by
the Fon Du Lac Park District from Memorial Day to
Labor Day. We are also proud to call Eastside Centre
the home of our Pepsi Cola Illinois State Girls All
Star Volleyball Classic that was recently held.

The upcoming tournament series that we will
predominantly hold at Eastside Centre will be all 2 to
4 day events. We strive to run quality events and
stick strictly to
4 Team, 3x3 Crossover, 3x4 Crossover Pools, so there
is a limited downtime between play. Our events are
run with 1-3 days of pool play, with the last day
being
tournament format with a guarantee of 2-3 match's. Our
events guarantee teams 5-6 match's, on our 2-day
events, 7-8 match's on our 3-day events, and the River

City Volleyfest in June will have at least 10 match's.
We currently strive to provide official USAV
officials as the head official for all match's, but
sometimes have to
utilize qualified coach's as officials, but
none-the-less, head officials are provided within the
tournament fee.

The City of East Peoria Department of Tourism has
accepted the responsibility for housing for all of our
events, and secured rooms at housing facilities all
within 10
minutes of our playing facilities.

The following are the dates of our events:

I would like to invite you to visit Smack
      Sportswear's totally redesigned website at
           www.smacksportswear.com.

Smack Sportswear was established in 1994 by beach purists who love nothing more than to play volleyball, surf, and hang with their buds on the So Cal sands.  We therefore have the ability to design stylish, functional, unique clothing from a participant's perspective.
We have spent the last 4 months creating a constantly changing site which allows enthusiasts from all over the world to view and purchase our "So. Cal inspired" apparel, interact with our pro athletes, and learn more about what's happening in the world of volleyball.
Tim Hovland tells it like noone else can in Hov's World, while the Players Corner allows you to ask questions of our pro athletes.
Our Monthly Specials and Discount Buys sections  offer off-price goods not sold in retail stores. If nothing there catches your eye, you may view our Summer 2000 line, then check the Dealers section to find a store in your area carrying our line.
The Team Apparel section displays our unique, stylish Y2K Collection, while the Model SearchSmack Contest, and Feature Articles will surely keep you coming back.  Lastly, the Promos section provides a list of sponsored events as well as photos from many of the wild events we run here in the South Bay.
Over the next few months, we will be adding new sections such as "Geet City", Event Results & Athlete Rankings, as well as a "Competition" line of apparel which we provide to Professional Volleyball, Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Hockey players. I hope you enjoy the site and look forward to your feedback.

* Note: Our shopping cart, which will allow you to purchase goods online, will be completed by 7/1/00.

I understand that coaching credentials are being required for high
school coaches next year...if so, please let me know how the USAV
Puget Sound Region can help, or if Women's Sports Foundation can
help...

I am the Director of The Starlings Club, Seattle which is a
volleyball program started by two former Olympians, Byron Shewman and
Kim Oden. They are targetting inner city kids which are mostly
African-Americans or Native Americans...if you would like to be
considered for this group, please email back and I will get you
connected. I realize that some of you are not able to travel far,
but maybe a small league or intra city format could be used.

The Starlings had a directors meeting in San Diego, California last
January and are now having their own National Championships in San
Diego in July...it sounds like a great time and I believe the
Portland, Oregon team will be going. Seattle is still putting a team
together as most of the girls want to play basketball.

If there are other clinics and/or camps you need info on in
Washington State, please advise. We seem to be the closest city for
your coaches to come to outside of Alaska, so anything we can do to
assist, we would welcome the thought...

I am also on the Executive Board for USAV, Puget Sound Region. We
have the volleyvan coming in July to service our youth in about 10
different cities the week of 17 to 22 July and if you can afford to
send a group, they can travel with the van and help out and learn at
the same time...just a thought.

Anyway, regards to Virgil Hooe if he is still commissioner...I was
once a commissioner for the Evergreen Region (now split in two).
Thankx...hope we can help out some way...Diane Taniguchi, Volleyball
Mania
