Golden League Paris, France.
100m: Christine Arron (Fr) 11.04
Two years ago, you had to run under 10.90 to win here, now 11.04 is
enough. Arron wins in front of her own audience. Chandra Sturrup had
a good start, but crumbled. Lauryn Williams looked a bit fat to me.
400m: Tonique Williams-Darling (Bahamas) 49.69
Williams had a fabulous season last year, when she wan the olympic
title and the 6 Golden League meetings. She had no problem today
beating runners like Guevara, Trotter and Hennagan. The second place
was for the Bahamas too, with Christine Amertil.
3000m: Edith Masai (Ken) 8'31 WL
This race was a battle between the two best Kenyans: Edith Masai and
Isabella Ochichi. Masai turned out to have the stronger final lap.
100h: Joanna Hayes (US) 12'60
Another race between the olympic champion and the world champion.
For the first time this year, olympic champion Hayes beat Canadian
Perdita Félicien. She made the difference in the second half, the
gap was never big.
400h: Lashinda Demus (US) 53.85
After winning her first American title, Demus is now trying to reach
the international top. This victory is a good step towards that.
