Very slow times, but there was headwind. Barber ran 10.87 in the
semifinal, but then there was too much backwind to make it count
officially. I never heard of Me'Lisa Barber until a few weeks ago.
Lee and Williams only had their breakthrough last year, so these are
three very young athletes.

These are also three very young athletes, maximum 22. The impressive
time of Richards means that she could be serious competition for
Tonique Williams of the Bahamas this year. The disappointment was for
defending champion Monique Hennagan, who finished fifth.

Demus was the favorite and she's almost a second ahead of the
surprising Shauna Smith.
