Stephanie Childs Let me tell you what I think of bicycling. I think it has done more to emancipate women than anything else in the world. It gives women a feeling of freedom and self-reliance. I stand and rejoice every time I see a woman ride by on a wheel...the picture of free, untrammeled womanhood. ~ Susan B. Anthony

Here's an update from Terra Castro, member of the LUNA Pro Triathlon Team
BE BOLD IN 2009
The first race of the season finally arrived this past Saturday, April 4th, California 70.3 in Oceanside, CA. After a week on the road for LUNA team camp and then LUNA summit, I got to spend a week in Del Mar, CA, preparing for the race. In the end, I crossed the line in 15th place- not ideal, but a lot was learned on the day. I sit here on an active recovery Monday, knowing that I am motivated and ready for 2009.
This race was the first up on a full race schedule, but more importantly the jumpstart for my desire to BE BOLD IN 2009. This may take a bit of explaining. Each morning, before I start my day, I spend time in prayer or what I call my "quiet time". No matter what you believe in, it is important to give yourself time to reflect and grow each day. A few weeks ago, a verse I read completely moved me. "On the day I called, You answered me; you MADE ME BOLD WITH STRENGTH IN MY SOUL". From that day on, I made a pact with myself that each day I would make a consistent effort to be BOLD- in my day to day living, my training, my relationships, and my ability to achieve my goals. I decided my theme for 2009 racing is: BE BOLD!
California 70.3 was the first race that I toed the line with this on my heart and quite honestly I have never felt so strong because my soul was truly filled to the brim. I was ready to be BOLD. I got aggressive and came out of the water in the top 10, I stomped forward on the bike and was in the mix because I stood bold (till the legs pooped out a bit, but It was about going for it), I fought back on the run with the desire to catch as many girls as possible- no backing down. The focus was about being BOLD no matter the circumstances- good race day, bad race day, all the in between.
No matter where you are in life- an athlete, in corporate business, a mother or father, a spouse, a friend- we can all make a choice to BE BOLD. Consider taking steps towards standing taller, smiling more, trying something new. You never know what will happen. Just know that you already have the strength within you to be there- all it takes is a step forward. Trust yourself and Believe. I am onward to my next race, April 26th- The Champions Triathlon here in Austin, before Florida 70.3 in May. And I am moving forward with BEING BOLD. I hope you will join me!
