Date: August 19, 2007
Meeting Time: Promptly 7:00 am at put-in to drop boats and drive
shuttle
Leg 3: LaGrange to Columbus
Distance: 36 miles
Put in: Bus 71 Bridge / Boat Ramp, LaGrange, Texas
Take-out: Howell Canoe Livery, Columbus, Texas
Start paddling: Approx 8:15-8:30am
Cost: $10.00 per person that utilizes the shuttle service
Here is how it all works…
Meet at the designated put-in at 7:00 am to unload boats. At approx
7:15 am we will all drive our own vehicles to the take-out, where we
will meet the bus. Lock and drop off your vehicle and load into the
bus for the trip back to the put-in area. Tandem boats need to only
send one person to run in the shuttle while the other can stay and
watch boats. Use of this shuttle service is not required to
participate in the training and those choosing to arrange their own
shuttles may do so, on their own. We will start paddling at approx
10-15 minutes after returning to designated put-in roughly 8:15 am.
Paddlers paddle at their own pace and it is recommended that slower
paddlers put in as soon as possible after returning to put-in. After
the paddle we typically meet to grab a bite to eat and discuss the
adventures of the day. All are welcomed to join in.
Required Gear
Boat & Paddles- Rental available at Rising Phoenix in Bastrop or
Howell Canoe Livery in Columbus. No inflatables allowed.
PFD – 1 per paddler (game wardens have been checking)
Enough food and water for the entire day as there are no refreshment
stands on the course. An electrolyte drink mix is highly recommended
as the Texas heat is relentless this time of year.
Although pre-registration is not required to participate in the
training please email (cr100info@...) if you are planning to
attend so that we can arrange the shuttle service accordingly. Look
forward to seeing you all on the river.
