You WILL need a compass. A BASEPLATE model. A link to several that
I would recommend as entry/ mid level models is Suunto and Silva
http://www.rei.com/product/727086 do not worry if you already have a
compass that is not one of these. If you already have a compass,
and have questions about its suitability for RACING, please feel
free to email Paul Murphy at paul_19may@... and ask about it.
Provide a link to the make and model if you are able, thanks.
You can also buy this compass or one similiar to it at Academy for
about $10.
If you do not have a map case, use can use a large zip lock baggy. A
coaches' whistle lanyard and a single hole punch comes in handy for
keeping your passport safe.
Also, if you would like to learn how to make a simple tow system and
practice using it at the clinic, you will need to bring the
following: 6 foot length (a little longer is okay you can trim off
the extra) of thin bungee cord with a clipping carabiner tied to
each end. Do not use locking carabiners, only the cheap ones that
are easy to clip and unclip. Also helpful is a nylon web belt with a
quick release buckle that can be purchased for a few dollars at any
sports store or REI.
Thanks,
