Re: My goals for this season
Jonas:
First of all, I'm always happy to see someone getting back into the
sport we all love.
To address you thoughts, here's what I know about the upcoming season.
First, we all need to recognize that we'll have a challenge this
year. The FIL Luge World Championship, as well as the FIBT Bobsleigh
and Skeleton World Championship, are both taking place in Lake Placid
in February. Between the necessary training weeks, and track
maintenance periods, we don't expect to see any track time starting
in late January and extending through the end of February.
Rest assured that the ADK Luge Club leadership is already engaged
with USLA on working with them to gain as much access to the track as
possible.
In terms of races, we will schedule a Club level race later in the
season once we get an allocation of track times.
Sadly, the FIBT World Championship will be taking place at the same
time as Empire State Games, so we do not expect any sliding sports in
the Empire State Games this year.
There is a fair slate of races out in Park City that are open to Club
sliders - if that travel is an option for you.
Thanksgiving Classic - 9am Sat Nov 15
Ice Engineers Open - 7pm Fri Dec 19
Utah Winter Games / USLA National Master - 9am Sun Jan 18
We'll provide more information as the season grows nearer.
Hope that helps you, and everyone, get an idea of what's coming up.
