I have the unfortunate duty to inform you all that we have to cancel
our scheduled ADK Luge Club recruiting event at Gore Mountain this
weekend.
About 48 hours ago, we received word that our application to
participate in the event was being canceled by the Gore Mountain
management. The exact reasons remain a little cloudy, but in the end,
irrelevant.
Your board, with much help from the USA Luge office, worked with the
mountain and ORDA (who operates Gore) to resolve the issues raised but
to no avail.
We have spent much of the past two days trying to salvage this
important event, but sadly, our efforts failed.
I'm sorry for the short notice, but we were hopeful as late as
lunchtime today that we might be able to pull this out of the fire,
but that hope did not play out.
I would like to make sure everyone gets the word. I've spoken with
our Board members, but I'd like to get back an acknowledgement from
the Prevette, Fredrick, and Bodmer families just so I'll sleep knowing
you've gotten the word.
Thank you all for stepping up. I was looking forward mostly to
spending the time with you as we all shared the excitement of our sport.
We will have a chance to do this again real soon, I have no doubt.
Regretfully but with Optimism,
Jim Murphy
