How would you like to spend a day at a high-profile Autumn Festival,
sharing the sport we all enjoy and helping your club as well?

If you can be available either Oct 6 or 7th up at Gore Mountain ski
area, please read on.

As many of you know, one of the annual requirements for a USA Luge
sporting club is to conduct an annual recruiting clinic.

Last year, we collaborated with USA Luge at their Slider Search in
Ridgefield, CT. This year, the Adirondack Luge Club is going to make
a go at stepping out on our own – with some help from USA Luge of course.

The executive board has struggled with how to best do this and
stumbled across a very intriguing idea. Gore Mountain ski resort in
New York (also an ORDA facility) holds an autumn "Harvest Festival" in
a few weeks, and we're making arrangements to bring wheel sleds and
equipment to do a slider search / recruiting effort as part of that.

Yes, it's short notice. I recognize that, and we all are very
sensitive to this. In fact, the decision to move on this was made in
the past 24 hours, so I'm sending this out now.

What would you need to do? We'll need folks to help set up and break
down equipment. We'll need to registers participants, show off
equipment, answer questions and generally help young sliders know that
this is indeed the coolest activity on the face of the planet.

If you can help out, please let me know as soon as possible. We'll
probably limit the display to one day, so please let me know if
there's one day better than the other.

USA Luge Officials Course Sep 21-23 – I hope many of you have signed
up with Beverly at USA Luge for that; I look forward to seeing you there.
Vermont All Sports Expo Oct 20-21 - We need about 3 members to help
USA Luge staff this interactive exhibit – preferably with a youth
athlete involved
World Cup Display Nov 16-17 – We're considering a recruiting /
informational display at the track for World Cup weekend on Nov 16/17.

We have a couple other things in the works as well.

Of course, I'll share the schedule for club sliding and races as soon
as I know.
