All,
Mary Anne tells me that sliders interested in accessing the Start
Facility on a weekend will need to make arrangements through a USLA
Coach (she suggested Duncan). She allowed that on occasion someone
might be in the office on a Saturday allowing access but that anyone
interested needed to go through the Coaches, and a week of lead time
is recommended. Availability will vary weekend to weekend depending
on the Coach's schedules.
We are holding our sessions to two starts this year to improve the
sled flow on the sessions and eliminate as much of the dead time as
possible in our outings. Two things have been the biggest
contributors to lost time in the past. Not starting on time is one
(GET THERE EARLY!), and waiting for people to get back up to their
respective starts is the other. ORDA only has two trucks to ferry
sliders, and often only one of those is running for a session. Also,
ORDA and/or the Coaches must have someone stationed at each start.
Two start locations is much more manageable for both the personnel
and equipment we have available to us.
This isn't to say that we will never use Start 3 in a Club session.
If no sliders are using Start 5, and our USLA Coaches approve a
slider for Start 3, and ORDA has the people available to cover the
start, then we are there.
Hope this answered some questions.
Ted
