All Members:
A quick note to catch members up on what has been happening with
Club this summer.
Congratulations and thanks to Nancy Mayers for a successful Wheels
Clinic conducted over the weekend of 18 August. This was well
attended and an unexpected financial success for both attendees
and the Club Treasury. An added bonus is that one of our requisites
for retaining Sporting Club Status with USLA is now completed.
Thanks To Brenna Margol and Duncan Kennedy for their time and
expertise. An added thank you to Member Bill Dearborn for his
assistance in getting this event planned and executed.
Club is in the process of relocating our sleds and equipment to the
LP Military Road storage facility. This should simplify future
rental pick-ups, and eliminate the problem of musical equipment as
the composition of our Board changes.
Helmets: We have eight of these in varying condition and vintage.
They are available to all up to date members on a first-come-first-
served basis. Contact Nancy Mayers for details.
Sliding: USLA has submitted requests for ice time to the USOC for
the upcoming season. This includes the package that Club will
receive. I am told that our time should mirror last years package,
and again probably include ESG Week. Look for our time to be
weighted more towards later in the season (there was ice at Mt Van
Hovenberg until 1 May this last year) so we wont be competing with
National Teams as much for time. I am told that a late season block
of time, similar to what we used to get, is a real possibility. It
will probably be November before the schedule takes shape, and then
as always, it is subject to adjustment, but I am liking what I am
hearing so far.
On a personal note, I ship out mid September and will return mid
January. Hope to see more of you guys this year.
