It sure is hard to believe a year has gone by. I
relive that awful moment many times in my mind. I didn't
stick with my routine that day. After work, I'd usually
hop online to see how things were going with Kyle,
Adam, their cars, practice, whatever, but that day, I
didn't. I knew Kyle wasn't racing, but there was Adam.. I
just remember having this weird feeling that I
shouldn't check this time. So I didn't know what had
happened. We always go to our local race track friday
nights, so I was getting ready for that when my sister
came home from work with the news, she'd heard it on
the radio. It was a nightmare to say the least.
Shock, disbelief. I lost my brother when he was 28 and
it felt like that, like losing a family member. The
hurt will never go away, you just have to learn to
walk softly through the rough times. I wanted so much
to go to our racetrack that night, just to be near
friends and a piece of what Adam so loved, racing. But
the rain began to pour here not long after my sister
told me about Adam. I do have to share one little
uplifting moment from that weekend. It's been my belief
that when I needed God the most and any help guardian
angels can give, they'd send me signs, but 2 specific
ones..pennies and Beach Boys music (something my brother and I
shared in common). Well, the day after Adam died, I
begged God to tell me he was okay and safe in Heaven. I
got my answer when I found a penny and heard the
Beach Boys pop up on the radio all weekend. Later on,
my dearest friend (who has been through it too, as
Davey Allison was her favorite and close to her heart),
found 2 pennies, one was from 1980, the year Adam was
born, the other was 2000. I could ramble on some more,
but I think I'd better shut up! Thank you SO much,
Lilsqueek, for asking, it really is a big help to me to be
able to do this. It's going to be a very hard
anniversary to get through this Saturday. I plan on hugging
loved ones tight and cherishing the memories. I hope to
read more replies here and see how ya'll are going to
get through the day. Any suggestions from anyone?
