George, the file Dave is referring to is "Actionbent Notes and Mods"
in the files area. It is available in both Microsoft Word and PDF
formats. It is a bit crude at this point. I have tried to capture
the major modifications that have been discussed in this group, as
well as some tips on the rather tricky front derailleur adjustment of
the Jetstream. There are a few more things I will add next week that
have been discussed since the beginning of the holidays.
As far as taking the bike to a shop, it all depends on your own
personal inclination to work on bikes. I think some basic skills are
a very good idea for anyone who rides a few miles from home. You
never know when you might need to make a field repair. Knowledge of
how things go together and what are essential tools to carry is a good
thing.
You might want to get the initial assembly done by a shop, and then
attempt future adjustments and repairs on your own. Let us know how
it goes and how the bike rides !
