Question about Midracer & Inseam   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #17253 of 21062 |
Hello All,

Happy New Year!

Still largely lurking here, still excited, still undecided between Mid
and High racers from AB.

My 1st 2 questions for 08:

1.)The recent Midracer discussions seem to indicate the "boom" needs
to be modified/sawed off to accommodate people with inseams of less
than 41 inches?(!?!?!) I'm only 5'9", so this could be an issue.

Quote: My xseam in only 41.5" so I actually had to cut off a 3- 4"
section off the boom to get the proper adjustment. Even so for my 5'9"
frame the boom was still slid in all the way. I don't think you'll
have any problem with just 6.5 more inches or so."

2.)Is it true that for hilly terrain, a HighRacer would be better than
the Mid-Racer? Or if they were both fitted with "granny gear"
chainrings would it be a toss up?

Thanks all!

Taking off a bit of length off the telescoping section of the boom is fairly easy and clean with a bandsaw. I guess a hacksaw would work too but the cut may...

Aha! X-seam. Not inseam. Thanks! Good to know. Can anyone weigh in on how much more "open" the MR seating position is than the HR? I wonder when Randy is...

The seat back angle is the same for the MR and HR. When deciding between the 2 bikes, be sure to consider that coming to a stop on the HR is a little tricky if...

Oh, and in re-reading your post, please note that the terms inseam and xseam are not the same. My inseam is 31" and my xseam (a cycling term) is 41.5" so this...
