I was at the 2003 WAC Tournament, and as I watched the Rice/Hawaii
first round game, I noticed that Carl English was elbowing players
away from the ball left and right. Was this normal for him? He
managed to never get called for it, either.
I had an opportunity to watch AC at his press conference where he
donated 100k to the University of Hawaii basketball team for an
endowment for scholarships. Very cool!
When I asked him about his injuries, he said I could check it out for
myself. He was going to play in some pick up games at the Stan
Sheriff Center later in the afternoon.
He was great! There were UH players, former UH players and players
from HPU. Nerijus Puida, Mindaugas Berneika, Milos Zhivanovic, Tony
Akpan, Mike McIntyre, Lewellyn Smalley, Justice Sueing and others
were all there. AC looked good as new.
He is starting to train hard for the next season. Look for some good
times in Miami!
You may try a man named Lew Haden that is in
Atlanta. Not sure of the spelling of his name but I found
it through the white pages of Yahoo! Another may be
to try through Bill Duffy, AC's agent. Maybe his
office could give an email or an official fan club or an
address through the Heat.

Timmy says he won't play back up to AC, so he's
going to be gone. There's not enough money to get
Payton w/o giving up someone like Eddie Jones or Zo, and
that's not going to happen. AC is the
man!

B-Rolfe- You should have said that you were going to be in
Hawaii. We could have hooked up with other members of
this club for a membership meeting. One of the members
is even dating the son of your men's bball team.
Maybe next time.
They didn't pay 4 million a year for a reserve.
Hardaway is not going to re-sign. I really don't know what
they can offer for Payton without taking on a stiff
like Vin Baker. I wouldn't trade Brian Grant. It looks
like Bowen and Majerle are both gone, which isn't a
big loss. Dump Mason please. Grant, Mourning, AC,
Eddie Jones, and someone at the 3 position. The other
scenario involves Jones playing the three and getting a
zone breaking two guard because AC has not shown the
ability to make jumpshots on a consistent basis.
AC gets a $12mil/3 year deal. Is that a show of confidence or what? Good for AC
especially with the Heat still looking for someone like Gary Payton to replace
Timmy. $12mil is a lot of pay a reserve.
It appears that AC is going to stay with the
Heat. A couple of papers in Miami project him as the
starting point guard for next year. Cross our fingers and
hope that it happens that way. It looks like Hardaway
will not re-sign and with Mason's recent arrest that
might affect his status as well. On the UH front, I
spent the last week in Honolulu and it looks very
promising for the 'Bows next year. I think that they might
be able to the WAC, though I think that the loss of
Ostler might hurt early on in the season, but the early
season schedule will be easier this year.
I agree- it was a terrible end to an inspired
season. When you think of everything the Heat went thru
during the season, and then to get swept in the first
round by an average of well over 20 points a game. They
were never in it.

As for next year, I agree
with removing some of the older guys but I also think
that AC needs to really improve his outside shooting
to become a more effective player. Bowen is a little
weak but it is accentuated because nobody plays AC
honest. I watched AC shoot well onver 500 shots a day
while he was in Hawaii last year. He can make the
shots, he just needs to do it during the games. I think
it is still in his head. I don't have any doubts
that he can make it happen.
Another terrible outing against Charlotte. Is it
me or did Mason go in the tank as soon as Alonzo
came back. AC got into early foul trouble and was not
a factor. Miami needs a slight overhaul. Riley
needs to get rid of the old dead weight. Majerle,
Hardaway, Causwell would be my choices to go. However, if
AC were to become the starting point guard, the Heat
need a better small forward than Bowen. It also
doesn't help that they are over the cap for next year
already.
In a move that may be late in coming, Pat Riley
has decided to put Tim Hardaway on the injured list
and will be starting AC at the point. After losing
two games to the Hornets at home, I don't think that
it will change the outcome of the series too much.
At least AC will get another opportunity to showcase
his game.
Thanks for the info on the schedule, I'll be sure to check the paper for the
times. I'm looking forward to watching the games, hopefully AC will be able to
recouperate and play by Saturday.
I was listening to a local sports talk show this
morning. One of the questions they asked to win tickets to
MJ's movie was, "What CBA team did AC play on before
being signed by the Heat?" Answer above. I knew the
answer, too bad I wasn't on the phone to give the
answer...(:
