In talking to a number of the other upper blue cords recently, it seems that
there are a number of us intending to go for red cord in the coming examinations
(specifically Aug, Oct & Dec). It also appears that a lot of us need to get
things marked off but need more review on certain parts of the rank book.

So, in talking to Cheridah today, we hatched a plan for a Blue Cord study group
that will run once a week. We've gotten the ok from Devon to run from 7pm on
alternating Fridays (due to instructor training) and may also look at a session
following class on Saturdays, depending on people's schedules.

In terms of content, we were thinking to pick a section of the red cord book and
go through it for about an hour to make sure everyone has it down, followed by
40 min of fighting one another to help build endurance for the long fight
section. I'd also like to do a short review of the previous week's subject since
a number of items must be demonstrated on exam day, so remembering them is
important! All in all, each session would probably run about 2 hours I think.

As I mentioned earlier, we're looking for folks who are looking to go for red
cord this year and who have gone through the mastery class rotation at least
once.

Anyway, let me or Cheridah know if you are interested in getting involved and if
the times work for you. We're going to have the first session this Friday, July
3rd, and start moving through the content.

Have a great Canada Day!
-Aaron

I'm happy to (humbly) provide my insight to any looking to test.

I'm around on Monday and Wednesday evenings regularly and possibly Tuesdays and Fridays.

hi all

Don't forget that tonight at 10:00 pm we'll host a 30-minute tournament.

Format will consist of a preliminary round-robin so everybody gets
lots of fights.

The catch? In order to score a win, you must hit your opponent with
two consecutive valid blows! (Thanks Adam for the idea.) Semis and
finals will be decided by the same criteria. Should be fun.

The prize? $10 Waves coupon to toast your victory. Huzzah!

See you there!

Greg Reimer

Hi Aaron/Cheridah,
Just to confirm, I am interested and will try to make each meeting.
The next meeting is on the 17th at 7pm, is this right?

Hi Shane, glad to hear you're interested! Our normal, full study group will next
meet on Friday the 17th at 7 and we are also trying to get some time on Saturday
mornings as well.

I talked to Adam last night about gaining access to the Academie on Saturdays
and he said that he will be able to open up for us at 10:30, one hour before
regular class starts. The next section of the exam book is a shorter one — the 5
strikes, places of pain and defenses — so we should be able to get through it
rather quickly and on to the 40 min of fighting before class begins. How does
that sound Mike? If we had a longer section to do, 10 would be better, but I
don't want to inconvenience Adam since he has some distance to travel to come
in.

--}----- 10:30 am Saturday morning works for me....Thanks to Adam for
this....I will confirm with Adam tonight and once Devon is back on his feet we
might be able to access the Studio at 10:00am if I will be responsible for
opening...

To re-cap; on Friday the 3rd of July a group of "Blue Cords looking to go
Red" met at the studio to form a study group for people who will be testing for
their Red Cords in the coming months...The proviso being that the attending blue
cords would have gone through most of or all of the rotation of the Mastery
Classes ( a six month rotation)
This would ensure that the time spent would be primarily spent reviewing
rather than teaching. This will be an ongoing study group so those who are
interested but still need time with Blue Cord material can look forward to
joining when they have sufficiently covered material so as to benefit from
reviewing rather than trying to learn new techniques on the spot.

This being said it is in no way an elitist group or one set apart. It will be
an open group, open to all sufficiently qualified and a group run by
students(primarily,){although we appreciate and thank those instructors who have
offered their guidance}) for the benefit of all scholars at Academie Duello...

We are currently in the early stages of development and the guidelines and
curriculum will established as we go along...

In our first session together we covered the Abrazzare section of the Red
Cord guide...We spent an hour picking each others brains and manipulating each
others bodies with the end result of all of us picking up something new and
interesting...This was followed by two 20 minute sessions of vigourously
fighting each other with a five minute break in between...

So...We are a work in progress and we invite any feedback...

Thanks to all the attendees and I look forward to working with you all again
along with any others who are interested and have put in enough time in their
study to benefit from such a study group...

I might be able to make Saturday mornings!  I may theoretically have my red cord, but I'm feeling very rusty and the more review the better, I think.  The theory would be that I'm helping you guys out, but I'm sure it's much fresher for the lot of you.  I'll try not to hold you too far back.

You may have noticed that I wasn't out today, but I will do my best to make it out next week.

You'd certainly be welcome!

The schedule at the moment is alternating Saturdays and Fridays each week.
Ideally, we wanted to use straight Friday slots, but due to the instructor
classes, that isn't possible and we alternate those weeks to Saturday morning.

So the next scheduled Saturday will be on the 25th. However, there might be folk
interested in coming in on Saturdays to work then on the off-weekends as well.

cord, but I'm feeling very rusty and the more review the better, I think.  The
theory would be that I'm helping you guys out, but I'm sure it's much fresher
for the lot of you.  I'll try not to hold you too far back.

Saturdays and he said that he will be able to open up for us at 10:30, one hour
before regular class starts. The next section of the exam book is a shorter one
â€" the 5 strikes, places of pain and defenses â€" so we should be able to get
through it rather quickly and on to the 40 min of fighting before class begins.
How does that sound Mike? If we had a longer section to do, 10 would be better,
but I don't want to inconvenience Adam since he has some distance to travel to
come in.

on alternating Fridays (due to instructor training) and may also look at a
session following class on Saturdays, depending on people's schedules.

book and go through it for about an hour to make sure everyone has it down,
followed by 40 min of fighting one another to help build endurance for the long
fight section. I'd also like to do a short review of the previous week's subject
since a number of items must be demonstrated on exam day, so remembering them is
important! All in all, each session would probably run about 2 hours I think.
