June's Newsletter!!
Well guys, here's an update on what happened last month and whats
coming up this summer and other events.
Tournament:
So the weekend of May 23rd to 25th we hosted our first Tournament
weekend and I think everyone that was there can agree with me that it
was a blast!!! Thank you to everyone who attended and especially those
who volunteered, it couldn't have happened with out your help.
Saturday the 24th we had 3 tournaments, The invitational, The open ,
and the first Cut & Thrust in the lower mainland.
Invitational: a round robin tournament with Beau Brock met Justin
Greywolf in the finals, with Beau the victor, winning an Angus Trim
side sword.
Open tournament: intended for beginner to intermediate students,
however we allowed advanced to students to fight but under
restrictions: they could only win a bout with a thrust to the torso
using their off hand. Beau Brock met Aaron Bell in the finals were
Aaron put up a great fight and came the victor and won an Angus Trim
Sidesword
The Cut & Thrust: a double round robin using swords and shield the
combatants clashed in a blaze of glory were, once again Beau Brock met
Lee Smith in the finals. The fight was honorable and fierce with Beau
being the victor and winning an Angus Trim Longsword.
Up Coming Events:
Saturday Aug. 2nd , Saturday Oct. 4th, all at 12:30 pm
– Rank examinations. For those of you wishing to try for your next
cord level please see an instructor (Primarily Adam or Devon) to have
your list checked. Everyone else come on out to give your fellow
students a run for their money and ensure they work hard to get what
they deserve!! All are welcome.

Sunday, July 13th & 27th, Aug 10th & 24th - Falconry Workshops $120
- These workshops are limited to 12 people, so sign up now! Joanne
Bentley will be bringing in some of her birds and give an intro lesson
on basic falconry and its history
Saturday, Aug 16th - 6pm, Tuesday, Aug. 26th - 4pm
*PNE demos. Once again this year we'll be swinging our steel at
The Festival Square stage. We need 15 volunteers for each date and if
you can make it we have free day passes for rides. Last year was a
complete blast and we're pretty sure this year will be as well.

Saturday, October 25th
– NorthWest Grand Longsword Tournament
this Tournament should prove to be a lot of fun. After the success of
our Rapier tournament we would like to draw more attention for the WMA
community, and plan on having a bit of a different format including a
forms section for beginners- advanced, more fighting (of course…it is
duello after all!!) and guest judges!!! More details TBA
And saving the best for last…

Due to the armor requirements for the Longsword tournament we may be
running an armoring study group. Please see Rick to find out more.
