Greetings!
Academie Duello is proud to announce a new acting and performance division:
Academie
Duello Stage & Screen! This new division will provide a place for you to apply
your hard-
fought swordplay skills to performance under the instruction and guidance of
Head
Instructor Braun McAsh, best known as the Swordmaster of the Highlander
television
series.
The Stage & Screen division has two primary foci: 1. Instruction of Theatrical
Combat, 2.
Performance. The instructional activities begin this week with the introduction
of a new
twice weekly Theatrical Combat study group, on Tuesdays from 5pm to 7pm and
Thursdays from 9am to 11am. The study group will focus on training, rehearsing,
and
practicing fundamental stage combat skills, set fights and choreography, and
preparation
for upcoming performances. Monthly workshops, starting with Theatrical Rapier on
February 24th, will provide an immersive environment for developing specific
stage
combat skills and learning how to apply them in fully choreographed and shot
fight
scenes.
The first performance for the Stage & Screen performance team will be at the
Celtic Fest
on March 15th and 16th, if you want to be there to perform or just learn the
fights, join us
this week! Following that we will be shooting a short movie in July and then
hosting "Night
at the Fights!" in October, a night of combat theatre hosted at Academie Duello
(also a
potential Fringe Festival entry).
The Stage & Screen program is available to any attending member at the Academie
as part
of your regular package. We do require that you purchase a performance team
uniform
and Stage & Screen manual.
If you are interested in joining the program, please send me an email.
I look forward to seeing many of you this Tuesday where we will begin rehearsing
for the
Celtic Fest – a duel between rapier and dagger and rapier and cloak!
