Testing was held September 24th. Congratulations to the following
people on their promotions: Paige Haugen, yellow belt; James Haugen,
orange belt; Elias Rostad, blue belt; Nate Kringstad, orange belt.
Nate Kringstad also received his nunchaku patch after performing a
demonstration at the testing.
Please welcome new students Bert Wilson, Gage Wilson, Tateyn
Wilson, Janelle Trottier, Zack Bumpous, and Brandon Bumpous to the
dojo.
We still have a few t-shirts left with the dojo patch on the front
and Kenpo Karate academy on the back. They're only $15 each while
they last.
We finally got our class picture taken. I'm planning on sending a
copy of it to the American News for the scrapbook page. Their policy
requires everyone in a picture be identified by name. If anyone has
any problems with their picture being in the newspaper please let Mr.
Lammon know ASAP.
Just a reminder that the Kenpo Kids class is at 6:30 PM and the
Basic Class is at 7:30 PM. We are going to call the 7:30 class a
basic class rather than adult class from now on as we feel it better
describes the class. As mentioned before it would be nice to have
senior students assist with the Kenpo Kids class if possible. We
hope to add an Advanced Class sometime in the future. The advanced
class with be for green belt and above. Also because of increased
interest we will be adding a workout class on Tuesday and Thursday
mornings at approx 11:30 AM. This will not be a formal class but
usually one of the instructors will be present if you have questions
or need help. Again this is an open workout. Also, you do not have
to wear your uniform to open workouts. There will be NO CLASS
October 1st because of the NSU Gypsy Day Parade. We have also
decided not to do a float this year but will plan on doing one next
year.
Natural gas is supposed to go up over 70% this winter. Since the
dojo is heated by a natural gas furnace this will affect us also. We
may train in shoes this winter so we won't have to have the heat
turned up as high or have it on so long before class. We'll probably
request shoes just for the dojo. Kung fu shoes would be great and
are roughly around $7 a pair. We'll see how it goes and if we have
another mild winter or a blizzard filled year. We'll do everything
possible to avoid raising the monthly membership dues.
You still need to bring water to class. Please have it in a spill
proof container. Just because it's starting to get cooler outside
does not mean that you can't get dehydrated. Mr. Holland brought in
several cases of water so be sure to thank him. Again, please
remember that if you drink a few, bring a few. The bottles at the
dojo are in case someone forgets their water or drinks all of
theirs. You should still try to bring your own.
Demo Team: We had our demo team meeting on September 19th. We will
start working on routines at the next meeting. The next meeting will
be Wednesday October 19th at 7 PM.
Upcoming Events: Kenpo Seminar conducted by Ron Chapel and hosted by
Shaolin Kempo Karate in Omaha, Nebraska . There are three sessions:
9 AM-1 PM & 2 PM-6 PM on Saturday October 15th and 9 AM-1 PM on
Sunday October 16th. Only $50 per session plus discounts are also
available. More info is on the blue flyer on the bulletin boards at
the dojo. If anyone is planning on going please speak with Mr.
Lammon ASAP.
As always, thank you for your business, hard work, and dedicated
training. Keep it up.
