Well, I think I have finally recovered from The Ann Arbor Art Fair.
Sorry for the long delay, but I'm happy to report that The Ann Arbor
Skatepark Action Committee's first appearance as a non-profit at the
art fair was a huge success! The booth, built by Tony C. and Mike Bush
included a flagpole from which our banner hung and could be seen from
at least a block away. People flocked to our booth and talked with the
many volunteers who helped out. Most visitors to The Ann Arbor
Skatepark booth made a financial contribution as well.
We had shirts and stickers available in return for a donation to The
Ann Arbor Skatepark Action Committee. Supporters snatched up over 100
t-shirts, and several hundred stickers. We couldn't have done this
without the generous support of the following donors:
Kevin O'Rourke from Crown Vic Productions http://www.korourke.com/
Kevin generously donated the tee-shirt/sticker/logo designs that we
use. Visit his site and see all of the awesome work he does.
Red Paint Printing http://www.redpaintprinting.com/
Todd and Teresa run Red Paint Printing down in Adrian, and cut us a
major deal on the t-shirt printing. They also run Ollie's Skateshop
out of the printshop. We strive to work with local businesses and
skaters, and Red Paint Printing offers us both of those things, not to
mention great products.
Signarama http://stores.signarama.com/48103/
Jeff over at Signarama donated to the skatepark effort by giving us a
substantial discount on our banners. As you can see from the pictures,
the banners are vivid and durable.
VGKIDS http://www.vgkids.com/
VGKIDS has printed our stickers from the beginning, and donates in the
form of cutting us a deal on the cost. Along with stickers, they print
shirts, posters cd covers and more. Check 'em out.
Our debut at the Art Fair really could not have been possible without
the most important ingredient: YOU. Without the support of the many
people who came out to volunteer at the booth (in 90 degree weather
each day) we would not have successful. Also, thanks goes out to the
hundreds (thousands?) of supporters who stopped by the booth to offer
support and assistance financially or otherwise.
We have a saying around here that we strive to use at the end of each
day: "Today was a good day for the skatepark." Well, last week was a
good WEEK for the skatepark! Thank you for making it happen!
