Hi all,
Hope those of you in the midwest didn't get heatstroke in the past few
days ;-)
I'm writing to ask for some support for the skatepark project. We have
made two formal presentations to the Parks Advisory Commission (PAC),
and are meeting with PAC staff tomorrow to discuss location of the
skatepark. They seem to be in support of the skatepark, but we want to
keep it on PAC's radar, even in the months when we don't formally
present to them. This is where parents, kids, and other members of the
community can help a lot.
What we need is members of the community who support the building of a
skatepark speak at the public commentary portions of PAC and City
Council meetings. Basically, one signs up at the beginning of the
meeting, is allowed 3 minutes to speak, and that's it. It only takes a
few minutes, and folks would not have to stay for the entire meeting.
We're looking for people to simply say, "I think it's important that
Ann Arbor have a free, permanent skatpark because blah blah blah."
PAC meetings are held at City Hall on the third Tuesday of each month
at 4:00 pm. Council meets at 7:00 pm 2-3 times a month, and we'll have
those dates on a2skatepark.org.
It would be great if you could make an appearance at one of the public
commentary sections during 2008. It is late notice, but the next PAC
meeting is this Tuesday. And, if you could spread the word about this
to other parents, kids and community members, that would be great.
Thanks a bunch. This community project can happen with your help!
