What can you do
to help get a skatepark built in Ann Arbor:
NOW:
Sign the online petition. http://a2skatepark.org/petition
Put a link to a2skatepark.org on your blog, website, myspace, facebook, yahoo group, and any other online entity you might update. Put a2skatepark in your top friends!
Email five friends and make sure they know about the Ann Arbor Skatepark Action Committee and website a2skatepark.org. In the email, request that THEY email five friends too.
Put your a2skatepark.org sticker on your car. If you don’t have a car, ask to put it on someone else’s car, or slap it on your skateboard.
Write a letter to the mayor of Ann Arbor, or the city council member in your ward. Tell them why you think it’s important that Ann Arbor has a public, free, concrete skatepark. Send us the letter you write, as we might use it as a sample letter for others who need help getting started.
Forward this list to a couple people.
TOMORROW:
Go to Launch or Redbelly and get a sticker. Put it on your board, your car, or get permission to put in on someone else’s car.
Go to launch or Redbelly and buy an a2skatepark.org tee shirt for ten bucks. Put it on and never take it off (all the money made from these shirts goes to make more shirts. Spread the word!).
If you’re in school, start a skate club of some sort to help get people organized for this effort. A skate club can raise awareness, design shirts/stickers, come up with fundraising ideas, and show the community that people really want this to happen. Having this club as a school-sanctioned club will help you get announcements on the PA, etc...
If you have kids who are in school, help them get a skate club started.
Tell five people at the next skate session, your next shift at work, or in your next class about the Ann Arbor Skatepark Action Committee and a2skatepark.org.
THIS WEEK:
Tell as many people as you can about the next meeting of the Ann Arbor Skatepark Action Committee. Go to www.a2skatepark.org to find out when and where the next meeting is.
Send us an email describing your typical day of skating. This need not be long.
Send us an email describing what you are looking for in a skatepark.
Go to Launch and/or Redbelly and buy a shirt for your husband, wife, partner, sweety-pie, brother, sister, grandma, great-grandpa, or a friend. Make sure they promise to never take it off.
THIS MONTH:
Take pictures at whatever skateparks you go to. Email them to us and we’ll put them up on the site as good and bad skatepark examples. Tell us how long it took you to get to the park, and what you had to do to get there. Also, tell us why you picked that park.
Go to Launch and/or Redbelly and pick up some flyers for the next meeting of the Ann Arbor Skatepark Action Committee. Put them up around town to spread the word.
Come to the Parks Advisory Commission meetings and/or City Council meetings when we present. We’ll let you know when we are scheduled to appear. The PAC meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month. If you can’t come, watch them live on CTN!
Check a2skatepark.org on a regular basis. We’ll post all updates there.
Need MORE to do? Send us an email (infor@...)!
Thanks!

Dug,
Is there anything useful folks currently out of town can do to support
the park?
Cheers,
Bruce
Dream it. Build it. Skate it.
