October’s meeting of the Ann Arbor Skatepark Action Committee will be
on Sunday, October 28, 6:00 PM at Redbelly Board Shop in Ann Arbor,
1671 Plymouth Rd.

A big thanks goes out to the owners/managers of Launch and Redbelly
for supporting local skating by offering up their businesses for our
meetings. We are currently looking for a larger, central location to
hold our meetings. If you have information about a possible meeting
place please email us.

The next Parks Advisory Commission (PAC) Meeting is on Tuesday,
October 16 at 4:00. These meetings are held in City Hall, council
chambers. We are meeting with PAC staffers before hand to discuss the
Ann Arbor skatepark. At the PAC meeting, we plan to bring the members
of the commission answers to questions they had for us when we last
presented. We thank them for their interest in this project, and we’re
looking forward to keeping an open line of communication with the
members of the Ann Arbor PAC. Please support our effort by attending
PAC meetings when we present.

The online petition to show how many people in Ann Arbor support this
skatepark effort is really taking off. Please keep telling people
about it, and keep those “signatures” coming. It’s important for us to
be able to tell our elected officials how many of our citizens believe
this is an important project.

We now have a paper version of the petition that can be circulated.
You can find a link to PDF and WORD versions of it here. Print it up,
collect some signatures, and return the sheet to Launch or Redbelly.
They’ll make sure it gets back to us, and our volunteers will input
the data to the electronic version of the petition. If you don’t have
access to a printer, you can pick up a copy of the paper version of
the petition at Launch or Redbelly starting tomorrow (Saturday).

There are Ann Arbor Skatepark shirts available at Launch, and starting
tomorrow, at Redbelly as well. We nearly sold out at the last meeting,
but our friend Wes is printing more and we’ll have them available
tomorrow. These shirts cost $10, and all the money goes to print more
shirts (only materials. We donate our time and service to make the
shirts).

We are almost out of our first run of stickers. This is great news!
There are now nearly 1000 “I support the Ann Arbor Skatepark” stickers
around SE Michigan. Launch, Redbelly, VGKIDS, Local Chaos and Yerboy
have all donated money (as well as many individuals who donated) to
make stickers. We’ll be getting more printed at VGKids this coming
week. They will be available at Launch, Redbelly, directly from us,
and at other businesses around town soon.

We are planning to start a large fundraising push soon. There are many
details that need to be worked out before we can launch the
fundraising, but keep your eyes to this site. We’ll let you know when
it starts, and how you can help.

Speaking of help, don’t forget the list of things you can do to help
the A2skatepark effort!

-Trevor
