Hello my name is Sheila. I'm 32 and a stay at home mom to 3 kiddos
(6, 3 & 11 months). I'm a distance runner, but i've taken the last 2
years off. My husband and I are going to run another marathon, but
because of childcare we can't train together.
So...i'm wondering if anyone meets for long runs midweek or on the
weekends? Or...if another Mom would like to start running long runs
Saturday or Sunday mornings?
I'll be 18 weeks out the first week of September so i'm looking at
starting at 7 miles and building up from there.
Sheila
I think I know what's going on. It's a Yahoo Group and it's Yahoo
who wants the login and password. I happen to have one because I
belong to a couple of other groups too. (I have a MSN one for
a Montego Sailboat group also.) If you got onto the Yahoo Group
before, you have a login and password. Once in awhile they ask for
it as a security measure. I write down all the passwords, etc. that
I have in a book. I was surprised but its quite extensive because
different places want different password formats.
I hope that helped you. If you use the same password for a
lot of things, you should get in.

Thanks SO MUCH for your efforts. That was very nice of you to do. I'm bummed that I won't be able to participate though. I'd love to run sometime. Maybe some Sat/Sun am.

Hi Krista,
I'm sorry to have to say we can't provide child care. I really,
really tried, even offered my own daughter...LOL. .. (she's 22) But it
causes a few issues we couldn't resolve. I am so disappointed. If
you'd like to run with me just for company some time, please email me
directly and we can try to match up some days. Maybe you could still
do the half with us!!
Thank you for showing some interest Krista, if you do figure out the
child care issue let me know!!!! We'd love to have you on the team!!!

Hi Kim,
Yes, probably every Sat. There may be one or two days where I wouldn't need
someone, but I am unsure which one's and how many Sat's it will be.
Thanks so much!!

Krista,
I ran into a small snag...the YMCA does not open before 8am on
Saturdays, so technically (gotta love that word...lol) we can't ask
an employee to come in to work the daycare room. I do have one more
option I'm thinking about, but I need to run it past Jim. I'll admit
it is a stretch but I'm going to give it a shot! Do you know how many
days you'd need child care? Approximately?
I'll get back to you late Wednesday night!

Hi Krista!
That's a VERY good question. How many kids and what are the ages?
Give me a little time, I'll see what I can do about childcare. It
might take me until Wed night to get back to you, but I will get
back, PROMISE!
If there are any other interested people who may need childcare,
please send a message with number of kids and their ages so I can get
an idea on exactly what the need may be.

Hi Kim,
Thanks for the info! Before I sign up, I need to know if there is childcare
available on Sat. am's. Otherwise, I couldn't make it every
Sat. :(
Thanks!

Hi everyone!
I have some very exciting news!! Jim Chappo has put together a 12 week half marathon training project. (See the new file I uploaded) It starts July 12th (Saturday) at 7am. We'll be meeting every Saturday at the North Port YMCA (use of facilities for the day are also included). We'll have a short greeting, a run (distances will be determined by each runner's level/desire) . This is a great opportunity to receive support, encouragement and guidance as well as the chance to meet fellow runners. The idea is to train for a half marathon taking place the 2nd week of October and run it together! So if you always wanted to test your endurance in a 13.1 race, now is your chance! Jim came up with the name of our team and I made the logo. Each team member can bring along a white t-shirt/running shirt and I'll embroider our team logo on it for free.
For more info or to sign up, please
call the North Port YMCA. 429-2269 and ask for Jim or Kim

Hi Chuck!
I had that upper resp thingy too! I could feel it in my chest and the
coughing after running was terrible. Last week was awful. My longest
run was 4 miles and I had to keep stopping. I was still just so happy
to be running again though, no complaints.
Chuck, if you have chills you should be in bed! Crazy runner!! LOL
Let me know how it goes! I'm heading out now for a 4-5 miler. I tried
to get Mike to run with me today but he's busy. I don't feel like
running alone for some reason.
Glad I caught ya!!!

I'm helping with the triatholon this Saturday. I pulled the 6AM to
2:30 PM shift. Then, I go home get some rest and go to a
progressive dinner in the neighborhood. It has a Mexican theme and
I'm grilling pineapple.
I came down with something cruddy when I got back from Raleigh, NC.
I presented a paper there for school with a coworker. I think
eating from those buffets gave me something toxic:-). I have a bad
upper respiratory infection and a stuffed nose with the chills.
Still, I think I'll run about 1/2 hour later. Sometimes, running
has pulled me right out of these things and if it does not, then I'll
walk home after about 15 min.
I'm glad to hear you're back to normal. You should enjoy the
15k. That sounds like a nice amount of distance.
Enjoy!!

Hello Chuck,
I was hoping to grandfather myself into running in the heat but it
may be a little late for that. I really don't like to run before
10am, but given the fact it may be that or not at all...I too may be
getting up early...LOL I'm usually awake around 6-ish anyway, but I
have a tough time trying to eat so early.
I ran today at the gym with Mike. We did 4 miles but went pretty
easy. I'm happy happy happy to report my flexor felt a little tight
now and then, but overall, I think I'm almost back! I may get another
run in later on. I'm much more hopeful about the Disney 15K.
Have a wonderful weekend Chuck...hope you get some down time.

I do run all summer, I just don't do training and limit my times out
because if I don't run in the morning, I'm not going to run in the
afternoon, generally! Dehydration is real down here and something I
used to not worry about even when I was visiting down here. It is
an issue now. I can go about 1/2 hour in the muggy heat without h2o
and then, I'm very thirsty and other things. I'll be running this
summer. Probably will get up at 6-6:30 to run.
