elswhere.
Because he commited to Kenny and the White Sox first. He's got integrity and not

well, any one who knows me, knows that Harold is my all-time
favorite player. I liked the name because the K9 is so white, like
our beloved Sox. Urlacher was a masculine name that implied strength
and power... which I'm sure will fit this dog rather well. Also,
both my sons were named after Bears (Kodiak and Payton). Shadow? I'd
prefer Kasper... which judging by my kids has stuck with them.
Perhaps they'll let me "paint" a #3 on his side before I deploy, but
I won't count on that... LOL

How important is the aquisistion of Jermaine Dye? No one has really
talked about it but Jermaine is 2nd on the team in homers and is quietly
putting together a Magglio-type season. I have always liked to solid
hitting and defense Dye has brought to the game. I think besides
Hermanson, Dye is the best aquisition of the offseason for the Sox.

pennant. They will continue to play quality ball. ChiSox will just have
to play better! Besides, I'd rather play them in the playoffs before
playing a AL West team like ANA or TEX. Besides, I believe MIN have
circled every game against us for the remainder of the season... I
expect playoff atmosphere!

As for ESPN? I agree, they "EAT IT" They fall in the same category as
the rest of Chicago sports fans who doubt their team will prevail...
losing seasons have that effect as well. Any one else turn off the ESPN
broadcast during the Ozzie programming? I say !@#$ them if don't like
Ozzy's style of managing. We all knew he would be entertaining.

I do agree that Crede needs to hit the ball better. But, he does do a good job on third.  Nobody can compare to Robin Ventura.  We do need  more constency.  I'm tired of wondering if there going to hit the ball when there up to bat.  Hey!  Were still winning though!  Even though I'm on the edge of my seat every game.  I do think Frank Thomas is a waste though.  We definately need to get rid of him!  But, no one will take him lol!

Maybe we can trade him for Sweeney from KC? Or get Huff from TB? I think Everett isn't
helping by struggling as DH as well. We need a hitter at DH (and 3-6 to mention it). Well,
as long as we keep winning... and hopefully keep Twins at a good distance until we start
hitting, we'll be OK (for now).

I know the Twins are only 4 games behind... but ESPN is predicting Twins will be
on top of AL
Central by July 4th. Seems like both our teams schedules are almost equal in
quality of teams
we play. All I have to say is... I hope the White Sox can try and gain some
ground this month
on Twinkies, so that ESPN can "eat it!" I hate that Twins are creeping so close.
GO SOX!!!!

All I want from Crede (and Paulie as well) is consistency, hitting for average
and driving in
some runs. We still don't know which Paulie we're getting.. last year or 2003
version.
Unfortunately, it's the last year for both before FA next year. It's definitely
hurting White
Sox, though we seem to be winning a lot of 1-run games... lots due to pitching.

As for Beltre (which I just dropped off my Fantasy League), I now think last
year (.238 ERA,
40 HR, 104 RBI) was a fluke and he's hitting like 2003 (.240 ERA, 23 HR, 80
RBI). Lots of
hitters are struggling, like Huff, Hafner, etc. Wonder if this is some fallout
from steroids?

And I agree with your assessment of the need for some power from our 3B. Just
waiting
and watching Crede over the years has gotten me (and I'm sure others) a little
frustrated.
And if all we've got is Fields for next year, then we gots problems and need to
get a
proven 3B for at least 2 years until Fields is ready. Whom (without overpaying)
is the
question.

damn, and i was gonna rag on (no, not "iggy") Ozzy's decision to keep
Marte on the mound after the costly error! and you all missed my banter
about never liking Shingo as a closer after his last outing (not that
his "contributions" mattered). we are enjoying the best season of my
lifetime (and too many of us hang on to the 1983 season... including
myself!). Early I said these ten games after the series against the
Scrubbies would be a thermometer for our progression. seems I was
correct. we're not beating any one up, but we have been playing decent
baseball (minus the clubbering we received on Sunday). Buerhle looked
sharp all game. I even liked him sticking it out in the 9th. ANA and
TEX are no joke; neither are those pesky MIN players. I'm looking
forward to the second third of the season. Let's all hope it's as
magical as the first.

BTW, anyone else like the name BAINES for a white dog? my boys seemed
to have named him Kasper... guess that's better than Whitey or Cloudz
(wife's suggestions). My second suggestion was Klondike (or Urlacher)
because he looks like a little polar Bear.

White Sox Extend Ozzie Guillen's Contract

The Chicago White Sox extended the contract of manager Ozzie Guillen on
Monday, making the move while the team had the best record in the
majors.
The White Sox picked up the 2006 option on Guillen's contract, added two
more years and included an option for the 2009 season.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
In Guillen's second year as manager, the White Sox have a major
league-best 34-17 record. They have been in first place in the AL
Central from the first day of the season.

"He's got the exact attitude, the desire and passion for the
organization and the city," general manager Ken Williams said. "His
players know that. I think he's got the most out of them."
Guillen, 41, is the 37th manager in White
Sox history and has a 117-96 record with the team. He is the
second-youngest manager in the majors behind Cleveland's Eric Wedge.

"To me, it's more responsibility," Guillen said. "To me, somebody has
faith in me and my staff. You have to look at yourself in the mirror and
say you can't let those guys down. That's the way I look at it.
"I'm going to do everything I can every year to make my team be a
winner."

Under Guillen last season, the White Sox finished 83-79. He is the first
native Venezuelan to manage in the majors. Guillen played 16 seasons in
the majors, including 13 as shortstop with the White Sox from 1985-97.

Sorry to hear about your bowling mate.  It's always hard to lose someone you knew.  I didn't get a chance to see the whole game because I was working but I was disappointed in the way the Sox played.  BTW...............My very first White Sox game was also against Texas but it was here.  It was in 1976 and the Sox lost 6-5 in 16 innings.  Back then, they had a 1am curfew(don't know if they still have that curfew) and the game ended at 12:55am.  I still have the program for that game somewhere.

This is very true.  I am not worried about the Twins.  I fully expect
them to be there every step of the way.  They have a great manager and
obviously know how to win at least the AL Central division.  It will
all come down to the head to head games we play against them.
Obviously the team that is not only better but wants it more will win
those games.  The Sox should be both of those as they haven't won
since 2000 and only a few players from that season are still on the
team.

I do hope the offense picks up however.  Jose should have won that
game the other day against the Angels.  I think things will change
once Frank is inserted into the lineup.  Sure Carl Everett has done a
great job and has had some clutch hits for us but pitchers tend to
think a little differently when a future Hall of Famer closing in on
500 home runs is standing in the batters box.  Perhaps they could put
Carl in right field and use Dye off the bench?  I don't know.  Ozzie
will figure it out.  Hopefully.
