I haven't checked any stats but maybe he's had success against Beltran in the
past? IIRC last year Beltran hit about the same from both sides of the plate.

I was surprised to see Politte start the 9th when he already had 1-1/3 IP in the
books; I was expecting Jackson.

Ed Farmer had some interesting comments about Koch pitching from the 1st-base
side of the rubber and how it made it easier for Santiago to hit. Dunno what
the whole story is there...

But it's only 1 game. Hopefully they'll bounce back on Wednesday.
