Subject: The Key to Effectively Jump Higher in Basketball

Basketball is a sport of many things - quickness, hand eye coordination,
strength, and intellect. However, the single most commonly considered aspect of
the sport is how high you can jump. Many people wonder how they can start
boosting this basic part of their game - reaching new heights and slamming the
ball into the net, or just grabbing a rebound before anyone else can get that
high. Luckily, even if you have a relatively small jump, there are many
different exercises you can do to help reach higher and stronger toward the hoop
each time down the court.
Building Your Leg Muscles
There are two primary muscles in your legs that need to be worked on - the
calves and the thighs. Together, these two muscles will help you jump higher in
basketball by translating the power of your feet up through your body and into
the vertical motion your body is making. It's a relatively easy fix to get those
muscles up to par though - usually a good route is through calf and toe raises
for your calves and squat thrusts for your thighs.
Combined with a long term commitment to effective diet and to building the
overall, strength of the rest of your body, these two small things can help you
build your way up to a tremendously powerful jump in basketball.
What Other Muscles Should Be Worked?
While the obvious muscles for jumping in basketball are those in the legs, there
are others that can be incredibly effective as well, such as the abs and the
biceps and shoulder muscles. Your abs will be used to translate the arc of your
back for direction of the jump and the power translated between lower and upper
body parts. The arms and legs will give you more force when you swing your arms,
as it is transmitted to various other parts of your body. Ultimately, if you
build from toes to head, your body will be generally more powerful when it takes
to the sky for those powerful vertical leaps.
The key to learning how to jump higher in basketball is to know which muscles
are the vital aspects of the jump, how they work in unison and how you can make
them stronger and use them together to translate to a more powerful and
efficient leap on the court.
