ABOUT THE PHC OF MAINE
Parrot Head Club of Maine is a not-for-profit organization whose
purpose is to assist in community endeavors and environmental
concerns and provide a variety of social activities. Nationally,
club members come from a variety of backgrounds. Most are
professionals, with an average age range between the mid-twenties
and mid-fifties. Although membership numbers vary greatly from club
to club, from all accounts, our clubs have an average membership of
150. The real beauty of the clubs is that they seem to attract
exactly the right kind of people --people who, through their
attraction to Jimmy Buffett's music, also have a number of other
interests in common, most importantly the desire to give something
back to the communities in which they live. www.phcofmaine.com

About Special Olympics
Special Olympics is founded on the belief that people with mental
retardation can, with proper instruction and encouragement, learn,
enjoy, and benefit from participation in individual and team sports,
adapted as necessary to meet the need of those with special mental
and physical limitations.
Special Olympics believes that consistent sports training is
essential to the development of sports skills, and that competition
among those of equal abilities is the most appropriate means of
testing these skills, measuring progress, and providing incentives
for personal growth.
Special Olympics believes that through sports training and
competition, people with mental retardation benefit physically,
mentally, socially, and spiritually; families are strengthened, and
the community at large, both through participation and observation,
is united in understanding people with mental retardation in an
environment of equality, respect, and acceptance.
