This is in accord with other Western hemisphere dates. We had debated since the
last ride about changing it a week before or after for logistical reasons (which
London did for example), in our case the problem having annually been overlap
with Chicago's Blues Festival and its attendant Metra blackout. Finally, the
city announced their fest date (25th annual) as June 5-8. So this year for the
first time there appears to be bikes allowed on trains and no other big park
events on our ride day! I'm hoping for a surge in suburban attendees.
Furthermore our ride date overlaps Chicago's "Bike to Work Week" (June 9-15),
and is the day after the mayor's Friday "Bike To Work Day Rally".
