All the effort and sacrifices you made
throughout the year paid off and made
it an extremely successful season and
something we can all look back on and
be very proud of.
Looking at your various personal
accomplishments and how far you have
all come with each others help and
encouragement is amazing.
Again this year we had a dozen doing
their first triathlon with some doing
more than one.
Again this year we had many podium
finishers and recorded a handful of
overall race wins.
Again this year, with 22 qualified, we
had the largest contingent at Nationals
and this time we got a bunch of you up
on the podium.
Again this year Margaret went to the
Triathlon Worlds, in Vancouver, CAN,
and with a 4th place in her age div.
she again did great.
Again this year, for the 4th year in
a row, Margaret qualified for the Tri
Worlds held in Gold Coast, Australia,
but this time she will have company
by the five of you who also qualified
-- plus the 4-6 who are likely to
qualify later on the sprint distance
meaning that we will make up a large
segment of Team USA over there.
Again this year we can look back on a
long list of fun and adventures activities
including our mini training camps, the
training socials, the Death Camp, the
Muddy Buddy, the CIM Relay/shopping
weekend, the Bieber training weekend,
the alternative training we had to come
up with during the many smoky weeks, etc.
Reene completed her first Ironman in 19th
place overall and 2nd in her age division
signaling a top-10 overall next time.
As those doing the 1/2 Ironman realized
while waiting for Reene to run another
8-mile loop, we have nothing to whine
about.
The Barb's Race 1/2 Ironman Relay team,
with the fastest bike and run splits,
set a new course record.
Joanne again did the Boston Marathon and
again lowered her personal best.
Although not a priority in the big scheme
of what we focus on, it has been fun to
see how you on the local "racing scene"
pretty much cleaned up and outclassed any
of the challengers. Making the most of it
is what training is all about.
Now starts the wait to see how many of you
will be crowned World Champion next year
in Australia.
Thanks for a great year from a proud coach.
Stay fit,
