The race is on -- the land sharks are out in full
force. With no swim each wave sets off scrambling
down the beach, some already donning their aero
helmets, heading for the steep path up to T1.
For those not knowing -- the Pacific Coast Triathlon
was also the USAT Nationals Sprint Championship and
a qualifier for the World's Sprint Championships also
held at Gold Coast, AUS, this upcoming September.
The rolling bike course and the run course with its
longer step segments sort things out fast. Those who
want it are hustling to keep the momentum while the
rest decide to just slug their way to the finish.
All the girls -- and Bill -- are doing great and at
the end of the day they all earn spots on Team USA,
so 12 girls, six on the sprint and six on the intl.
distance, from the group will be racing at the ITU
World's Age Group Championships at Gold Coast, AUS,
this September. It is demanding being a triathlete!
It was a great trip although some of us realized
that we were missing all the historical rest stop
sites along the way. Note for the next time.
