I had a "weird hip/hamstring/ piriformis thing" beginning back in
August, which turned out to be "proximal high-hamstring
tendinopathy" . The diagnosis is an uncommon, but it is a very
stubborn overuse injury where muscle strain causes the tendons around
where the hamstring attaches to the "butt bone" to develop dense
fibrosis (like scar tissue) that can entrap components of the sciatic
nerve. It aggravates both the piriformis & upper hamstring muscle
surrounding the tendons. Might want to look it up on the internet to
see whether it looks like the symptoms you guys are having. Hope you
guys have a very successful marathon!!
