It looks like this weekend's NSW titles will be the best for yonks. For NoR go
to the website
and hit the "events" link.
The fleet's looking good - although we've lost some competitors to a rival
dinghy regatta,
we're still going to get sailors from DAC, Narrabeen, and Wollongong, and from
two to
four are coming from Newcastle/Lake Macquarie. The only bunch we won't see is
Cronulla.
but apart from that the news is pretty good down there - Paul Kelly says that
they now
have about 10 active Windsurfer One Designs.
There should be good racing in all divisions, with former champ Mark Long
leading the
mob from Lake Mac and adding some spice in the heavies. Roger Crawford has been
flying
in the mediums and new face Phil Julian and superlightweight Alex Lutsenko will
be new
competition in the Lights. We'll also see Karen, Deb and Kerry racing in the
women. Some
of the Juniors should also be moving into the big rigs to make things
interesting.
The Junior One class should include sailors from Lake Mac, Wollongong and Sydney
so we
now have representation in all three major NSW cities.
Remember, this year's regatta will be on flat water so the sailing will be easy
but the racing
will be hot.
By the end of the States, we'll have had something in the region of 50 sailors
racing
Windsurfer One Designs and Junior Ones in NSW this year, and most of them are
regular
sailors. The class is looking good!
