As an Aussie living in North America, here is my take - sail old
gear, the Original. It's also cheap (as in inexpensive). There is
just no new windsurfers around, unlike Australia.

Go to yard sales and local classifieds. Perhaps Google. Spread the
word with workmates, etc.

You'll pickup 1-2 oldies a year that way, banged up equipment. After
a while, the bits and pieces come together. Then you resell the
worser parts for more money than you paid for.

That's what I do, and it works. Even though I keep breaking gear all
the time, I always replenish just in time.
