LOOKING BACK;

For anyone who hasn't noticed, it's 40 years today since Jim Drake and Hoyle
Schweitzer
first launched a windsurfer.

There's a video on Youtube;

LOOKING AROUND:

Dobroyd's winter series is back on, on the first Sunday of every month. There's
normally
three short races before we retire to the shiny new clubhouse for a nice hot
shower and an
even nicer cold beer.

DAC's fleet continues to grow. Last year we had 20 sailors in the Wally fleet,
plus a few
Juniors who sailed only in Junior events, and a bunch of beginners. The last
twilight race
saw 15 Wallies competing and a few more on the water.

FORWARD:

* There's a fast-growing Wally and Junior class at Yarrawonga. Four new boards
are on
order, to join a dozen older Wallies.

* Next year in NSW we are planning interclubs in conjuction with the Raceboard
events at
Marmong Pt (Newcastle/Lake Macquarie), Illawarra (Wollongong), and DAC (Sydney)
as well
as events at Narrabeen and maybe Vaucluse and Cronulla. At the moment, the
thinking is
to have the states at DAC which has good facilities, good race management and
easy
sailing. Any input is welcome.

We are also considering running fun/learner events for the unis in conjunction
with the
Traveller's Trophy/Interclub events, because there are signs of growth in the
uni fleets.

* NSW has some new sailors coming on line. If anyone has any secondhand boards
available, please drop me a line.

See you

Chris
