A couple of interesting things it seemed to me:
1) Seems to like the OL this year. Explained how they can get the job
done athletically once someone explains what the defense is doing.
Further supports the notion that the OL will get better.
2) For second week in a row, declined to say much about the DL --
pointing out that the ND OL just had nothing going on so it wasn't a
good test. Nice to hear that McEowen is back in practice and will play
soon -- they seem high on him.
3) Comments on Lloyd Carr were telling. Big of him to express warmth
for Carr after all the bitter losses at the hands of Carr's B10 refs.
Said after UM lost to Ore. he told his staff, this is what we went
through. (I'm not sure it's the same thing; UM has lost 4 straight
games -- PSU suffered 4 out of 5 losing seasons.) But it is
interesting that Joe didn't deny that Michigan is pretty bad this year.
4) Did not promise that Quarless and Harriott will play, only that
they could play. Does mean maybe Quarless will play some against
Michigan if they need him.
