Ferdinand Praises 'Unstoppable' Rooney Manchester United defender Rio
Ferdinand has praised team-mate Wayne Rooney, claiming that when he is
in form, the striker is unstoppable.
After missing the opening weeks of the Premier League season with a
foot injury, Wayne Rooney has quickly recaptured his explosive form of
last season, a fact highlighted by his explosive display against Aston
Villa at the weekend.
Ahead of United's Champions League tie against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday,
Ferdinand praised the 21-year-old and the partnership he is
establishing with Carlos Tevez.
Ferdinand told the club's official website: "To me he's a fantastic
footballer and it's great to have him in our team. When he's in form
like that, he's almost unstoppable.
"I think he and Carlos (Tevez) put to bed all the question marks as to
whether they can play together. Their movement was fantastic and I
don't think Villa could live with them."
Ferdinand also shrugged off claims that Rooney's contribution to
England's demise against Russia would affect his future performances.
"The disappointment with England wasn't going to affect his
performance," Ferdinand continued.
"Top players do that - you have disappointments throughout your career
but it's how you respond to those setbacks. He's showed that he's in
good spirits."
