Dave Struod was using a 168cm paddle. It looked like a toy but he ripped with it.
Three of us on US East Surf Kayak Team are using 180cm. I wouldn't go any longer.

Paul No problems rolling with a shorter paddle. It even has a small blade, Werner Twist. Less to "catch" unexpectedly when on the wave. You give up some power...
