Subject: [WW_WCKF] Diaologue with Peace and Compassion
Hi Lawrence and Everyone,
During the meeting with the monastics at Fan Yin Temple, Bet Sifu and I spoke openly,
and patiently with the nuns of the Buddhist Temple.
Our topics were mainly the opening of opportunities that the monks can have to help society.
Their ideas were: 1).Gaining access into hospitals to spend time with sick people.
2). Gaining access to old age homes to talk with the elders there, and befriend them.
3). Creating a support group for languages; Teaching Mandarin (Chinese), and English for those who wish to learn.
We spoke on how they can contact hospitals and certain departments there where they can further discuss their intentions in reaching out to the community.Even for old age homes, just to spend time with the elderly, give them a friendship, andhelp them feel more at peace when they have been placed aside by their family.
As for their Temple services to their community, they want to offer a weekly discussion every saturday afternoon at 2pm-3:30pm Also they extend their warmth and welcome to any one who wishes to just stop by to drink some tea and sit in a quiet environment, study their school studies, etc.
They also offer Chinese language classes (you can check my website for that info), and English classes, as well as teach about Buddhism. They want to better their English, but they do have members who speak both Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese ) and English.
Though I was asked to help moreso with these projects, I will be returning to China in 2days, and will not have much ability to do much.
Check my website for their phone number and email address if you want to help them out , attend their gatherings ( NO OBLIGATION FOR THERE IS NO CONVERTING PEOPLE IN BUDDHISM), give donations, sit their quietly, learn, etc.
That's about it...

Peace and Happiness,
Amituofo
Aiwei

for to more people to embrace Buddhism, and seek enlightenment
especially here in America, I know your project will help.

By request of the head Monk of the school, I am putting together an
open discussion group to be held on Saturday afternoons for now, to
be an exchange of language, and discussion on Buddhism.
> It is not exclusively to be about Buddhism, but any and all
questions about anything can be asked. It is a fre and open
discussion group. Also, the monks there would like to get some
english speaking practice so they can better communicate and
understand the American culture and be able to reach out to natuve
English speakers.
> All in good faith ...all religions are welcome to come and share
their views in a peaceful and family like manner. I will be there
this weekend to start it up, and afterwards I will have to return to
China for 6months or so, and then return to NY.
