 Hello Everyone,
I am working on a project with a Buddhist temple in Brooklyn NY. By request of the head Monk of the school, I am putting together an open discussion group to be held on Saturday afternoons for now, to be an exchange of language, and discussion on Buddhism.
It is not exclusively to be about Buddhism, but any and all questions about anything can be asked. It is a fre and open discussion group. Also, the monks there would like to get some english speaking practice so they can better communicate and understand the American culture and be able to reach out to natuve English speakers.
All in good faith ...all religions are welcome to come and share their views in a peaceful and family like manner. I will be there this weekend to start it up, and afterwards I will have to return to China for 6months or so, and then return to NY.
Here is the information below.   The add is also on craigslist.org

Fan Yin Temple

Welcome!

At Fan Yin Temple located on 5601 Fort Hamilton Parkway in Brooklyn,
we are hosting our first open English discussion group this Saturday,January 27th at 2pm.

It is an open discussion, which means one can ask any questions they have
about the cultivation school of Buddhism, and its role in our modern society.
It will be a great opportunity to let Buddhism take a face that fits for American society and culture, as well as to understand the cultural differences of Chinese Buddhism how how Buddhism is changing to fit the minds of Americans. We will begin to learn where American culture and Buddhism come together, and clear the misunderstanding that Buddhism is a religion. Though Buddhism also has a religious manner to it, it is only one manner of cultivation out of the whole cultivation school.

This group meeting will be the first of its kind in looking how Buddhism can adopt to the culture of America, as well as assist us at the temple in strengthening our understanding of what our society as a whole is wanting to move towards.
Such a gathering will not be the only one, for every week there will be full English spoken meetings which will help us strengthen our English speaking skills so as to reach out to those who are interested in the Buddha Teachings.

Topics can be any thing whatsoever, such as Discussing the differences between Buddhism and other religions, Different Schools of Buddhism, Meditation: Chan (Zen), etc...

We hope you can make it! It will be an open discussion over fine tea.

Please call to let us know you are coming:
