Trapping needs proper positioning and distancing.
It is learned through technique and manifests as an outcome of proper positioning and sensitivity.
So you need proper "range" for the technique..and the technique needs proper range..hahaha
Why bother on if it is one or the other? Practice sensitivity, two man drills, and applications and
the realization of utilizing trapping hits you like a ton of ...pak saus!
Peace and Blessings,
