Sandy--Can't think of a family, but I do have a few ideas. Our department works
with patients at Chestnut Ridge Hospital, several of them have nothing. Staff
takes in clothes, etc. Jackie, one of my coworkers who works with several
patients over there, would appreciate anything we could do. Also, the Rosenbaum
Family house. We could buy supplies--paper towels, etc., for the house or
provide a meal for the people staying at the house the night of our hash. I can
get more information if anyone is interested.

Ok everyone...it's that time of the year again! Well, yes...lots of fun hashes
and drinking afterwards to keep us warm.

But I'm talking about the Christmas Hash.

Last year it was in Fairmont, so tradition dictates it be held in Morgantown
this year.

I would like to propose and idea and see what everyone thinks:

Since I don't think any of us are needy this holiday season (well, except for
Charlie...but then he's always needy) :) I don't think any of us need a $15
wall clock, or hat, or 6 pack of beer. Ok, I know know I lost you all on the
last one! ;)

I was thinking it would be nice if we could find a family in need and instead of
buy gifts for our usual gift exchange...we buy gifts for the family. Than if
they are agreeable we could invite them to the after hash and buy their dinner
and give them their gifts.

What does everyone think? We could try to get Keglers, preferable Keglers 2, but
we could use that back room if we have to; however, it is a little crowed.

So reply and let me know if this is something you think we should do.

Also ***** Important **** Does anyone know of a FAMILY IN NEED this Holiday
Season?? It would be nice to help a friend of one of the runners. If not, we
can check with the Salvation Army or if anyone knows of any family from their
church.

Please reply quickly so I have time to plan this.

Sandy

Matt took the hares on a trail for the ages. The hounds only got confused a few
times as Matt twisted and turned the trail into what some might call a mass of
confusion, but a good hare will call keeping the pack together. Always a good
time!

This week Erik will be haring from Brick Yard Pub at 237 Spruce Street in
Morgantown. Looks like that is in between Pleasant and Walnut Street. There are
a couple of parking lots and garages nearby so enjoy the free for all!

See you on the trail,

Mark put on a great run from out on Point Marion Road. We got to visit the golf
course and all kinds of spots and trails that most people never get to see! Then
Mark opened up his home to all the hounds for an evening of dining. There was
chips and salsa, then soup, and finally shish kabobs. Goodness! Mark knows how
to host a hash. But you know us hashers, we always try to outdo each other, so
who is going to take the hosting crown away from Mark?

This week Matt S will lead the hounds from the Derby in Fairmont. The Derby used
to be the smokers capital, but not anymore with the new smoking ordinance in
Marion County. It's at 1124 Virginia Ave. The Derby is located on 12th street
just across from east west stadium. From Morgantown you can take the downtown
exit off of I-79 and follow Rt. 310 N into town until the end of it where you
will turn left onto Rt. 250 S. 12th Street will be just over a half mile on your
left just before Shop & Save.

See you on the trail,

ON - ON!!!

We had a great Halloween Hash from Hoop's on Tuesday. Morgantown will try their
hand at dress up Saturday from Babs on High Street at 6:00. Charlie is going to
hare, but I believe is looking for a co hare volunteer. You see, it's difficult
for Charlie to hare in heals.

Bab's is down on High Street, so basically it will be a free for all with
parking and just meet up there. But there is a lot just next to Fayette Street
sort of near Chicken Bones. It's a decent sized lot and fairly close to our spot
at 361 High Street

Don tried to keep it short at El Jeliso is Morgantown. It turned into a bit of a
longer one, but that made the Mexican after just that much more enjoyable.

This week is our Halloween hash from Hoop's in Fairmont. Directions: Hoops is on
Locust Avenue before Fairmont State College. Exit I79 @ downtown. Right off exit
ramp. Left @ 1st light by McDonalds. Right over bridge @ 3rd light into
downtown. Left at 3rd light onto Jefferson St. Straight through 2 lights and
you're on Locust Avenue. Go through 1st light and Hoops will be on your right
hand side of the road. It's at 505 Locust Ave.
Sandy will be haring this event and sent in a message:
Just wanted to remind everyone to get there costumes together this weekend. Our
Halloween Hash will be this Tuesday at Hoops on Locust Ave at 6pm. The costumes
are usually awesome and everyone has a great time, so come on out and join us.
There is be a special Halloween Beer Near or two...and make sure you save your
appetite for the after hash. There are some special treats in store for
everyone. Happy Halloween everyone and see you on Tuesday, Sandy

Saturday I think Charlie will be heading up a Morgantown Halloween Hash with a
yet to be determined location. I'll send out an email later in the week with the
info.

Jack had one heck of a trail from River City Grill. We got to visit the
construction site for the new Yann's Super Highway, experience a BN down along
the river, and finally loop around back to the start. Since River City was
closed, we stopped at the downtown Mi Pueblos where we were treated to excellent
service and great Mexican food!

And this week we'll continue our Mexican fiesta as we return to El Jalisco in
Westover where Don will take up the chalk and show us around. We've had some
rain recently so there will probably be lots of mud in all the trails Don is
bond to take us on. Also, it's been getting pretty dark, so remember your lights
and reflective material. El Jalisco is rest where CJ Maggies used to be in the
Westover Plaza by Big Lots. Last time we were there we got treated great.

Don't forget to be getting your Halloween costumes ready. We've got two
Halloween hashes this year. One at Hoop's in Fairmont on Tuesday the 27th next
week and the other in Morgantown on Saturday the 31st. I still need Mark Jones
to let me know where we're going from in Morgantown. But it'll be that evening.

Fun times always though.

This week, Jack will take the chalk from River City Grill in Fairmont. This is
located on Merchant Street just next to Vincent's. Basically you're on 310, just

the after hash.

Hey everyone. Some Mtn bikers are organizing a trip down to Seneca area to bike
the 24 miles of ridge line on North Fork Mtn. WV mountain trail Runners used to
organize this run, but went somewhere else this year. It's a great trail run
and as far as trail runs go, it's "fairly" level. You're on top of the ridge
line for a long way.

You will have to complete the whole 24 miles...unless we can organize someone to
drive a car to the 1/2 way point to bring some people back.

Please let me know if you'd like to go. We'd like to know by Thursday morning so
we can organize rides and so forth. Leaving Fairmont at 6am to ride down.

Sandy

Hey everyone!

Consider this a nudge. The third annual Deckers Creek Adventure Race will be
taking place on October 25th from 1-4pm in Morgantown and we need some more
teams. If you haven't tried this event you don't know what you are missing! We
have extended the early registration deadline to this Friday October 9th, and
the absolute final day to register is October 23rd.

It's teams of three so if you are looking for partners, post it! If you are
already signed up, let the trash talk commence! I know of one male racer who is
looking for a team. Check the website below for more info or visist

Mark kept his hash unique as always. The trail looped past the first check
something like 4 or 5 times. After the BN there was a Turkey Trail, an Eagle
Trail, and even a Super Eagle Trail. Somehow Mark must have used his super long
arms to mark trails from blocks away. That's the only logical explanation.

This week Nathan will take up the chalk from Qdoba, which is located on
Patterson Drive just to the left of Kroger's. Patterson drive is the road that
comes from the Coliseum.

Be getting your Halloween outfits ready. We've got two Halloween Hashes at the

We had one heck of a send off for Meghan from the hash last week from Boston
Beanery. Over 40 hounds showed up to give congratulations and well wishes to
Meghan as she got married this past weekend and is moving to the Philadelphia
area, where of course we know she'll eventually take over the airwaves and
become a big star! I'm sure she'll be back for a few Mountaineer games every now
and then though. Jeff did a great job on his first time taking up the chalk. A
few hick ups here and there, but nothing that the hounds couldn't sniff out.

This week Mark will take up the chalk as we visit Colasessano's in Bellview. It
is located on Rt. 19 N at 506 Pennsylvania Ave just after Smokehouse BBQ. If
you're coming from Morgantown take the downtown exit and follow 310 N into
downtown. Turn right onto Rt. 250 N and continue on Rt. 19 N for a couple of
miles. If you'd like a map here is one from their web site, just click on

didnt wanna make too big a deal of it, but next week is my last hash before i

So…. Not too big a deal. I mean we all know Meghan is kind of a big deal in

want to see you so if nothing else come on out to eat after the hash. Who knows
what kinds of gifts, cards, desserts, and other things will show up. It's a

Where are we this week? After Tony's great trail from Grand China last week
we'll head up the road to Morgantown and visit the Boston Beanery. They're at
the corner of of University Ave.&Patteson Dr. in the plaza across from Kroger's.
Jeff and Nathan are going to take up the chalk on a well planned out hash.
Should be an interesting one.

This message is a little long but I've been down the same path.
Hopefully this could help some others. I got injured with plantar
fasciitis in my left foot last February (2008). It was caused by over
training, which caused tight calf muscles and it put extra stress on
my plantar fascia. After my injury, my foot ached all the time,
including at night when I was laying down. I have not had any kind of
pain in my foot for about the last 4 months or so. Here are some
things that helped me:

* In the mornings, before you get up, go to the edge of your bed and
put your one calf on top of your other knee. Pull your foot back to
stretch the plantar fascia. Do this several times a day but doing it
in the morning before you walk is the most important time to do it.

* I worked on stretching out my tight calf muscles. There are several
stretches that you can use for this. There is a device called the pro
stretch that helps to give a good stretch in your calves:

http://www.amazon.com/Stretch-Unilateral-Stretching-Plantar-Fasciitis/dp/B0015RU\
VCE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1252323763&sr=8-2

* My feet have very high arches and orthotics really helped me a lot.
I didn't get them until almost a year after getting injured. I should
have done it much sooner.

* Roll your foot over a sturdy round bottle. At first, I had to use a
large bottle due to the pain. I worked my way down to smaller bottles,
then a racquet ball, and, finally, a golf ball.

* Take a break from running until this is over. I had a really hard
time with this and that is what set me back lots of times. I would go
a few days without pain and then go out for an easy mile or two run
and then fall back to where I was.

* While injured, try not to walk barefoot. (More about this further down.)

Here is a book that has lots of information about plantar fasciitis,
including: what is your plantar fascia, what causes fasciitis, the
current state of research, how to get rid of it, and lots of
references to back up their data:

The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution by Jim Johnson
http://www.amazon.com/5-Minute-Plantar-Fasciitis-Solution/dp/1598585517

I've been mountain biking a lot since I got injured. This year, I've
been trying to get back to running without causing another injury to
my foot. I was up to 2 miles a day, every 2 days. but I couldn't go up
any more since it felt like I was going to hurt my foot again. I could
hike as much as I wanted to though without foot problems. About 2
weeks ago, I started looking into my running form to see if that is
what was causing my foot problems. After more reading, I decided to
try trail running barefoot. I had to change my running form and I can
now run further barefoot and have no foot problems at all. I had some
muscle soreness (in a good way) in my calves and hamstrings. Here are
a few links:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/moslive/article-1170253/The-painful-truth-traine\

http://www.amazon.com/Born-Run-Hidden-Superathletes-Greatest/dp/0307266303
http://www.gordonpirie.com/ (You can download a PDF of his book.)

I got a pair of these shoes early this week to run in and so far I am
very happy with them.

http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/

Hopefully I'll be able to make it out to a hash in a few weeks.

Brian

I figure there will be a hash tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM from Shop and Save in
Fairmont since they love to gather for hashes on holidays in Fairmont!

Matt took us on the sites from Hoop's. We didn't go up Field Street 6 times like
he promised, and I guess all the hounds ran right past the BN. Oh well…. Maybe
next time! We of course took over Hoop's and enjoyed a great evening of wings
and burgers.

but I'm dying to get back on the trail and run. Any advise on what and what not
to do (ex.shoes, inserts, stretching,) for heel pain? No spurs!!! Thank goodness.
Thanks again!

Hello fellow hashers,

Our Mon County Girls on the Run (GOTR) program is in need of one more
assistant coach this fall. The session begins the week of Sept. 21st and
runs through the first week of December. This assistant is needed for
Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. at Brookhaven Elementary
School.

Coaches must be female and at least 18 years old. We're looking for someone
who enjoys working with youth (3rd-5th grade girls), can serve as a role
model/mentor, and assist the head coach with program activities. You do not
need to be a fast runner! If you or someone you know is interested, please
contact me at labildso@....

For more information on our program: www.moncountygotr.org. We also have
spots open for participants; a registration brochure is available online.

Thanks, and happy running!
Laurie

The BEST part is that you can always adjust your time at the end if you get
lost on the trail!

Whoot whoot!!! =D

Well, You all certainly look like a fun bunch! I'm just getting back into
exercising after a while and was looking to find some people to run with.
Running, and having a few beers is just up my alley!
