We had good time from Pizzeria Italia. John and Bret lead us through
some great trails in the ever expanding Suncrest area of Morgantown.
John emailed in a few thoughts that we should listen to for future
hashes:
Maybe we can have a "School of Hash". Seems like there are a lot of
unspoken "RULES" that have been forgotten. What ever happened to
hounds "barking"? A "ho-hum on-on" does not allow the folks behind
to find the course. When one yells 'ON-ON' the pack can follow the
voice and catch up to the pack. I think the main point is this is
not a race; It is a fun run which is designed to keep all runners
together. Whether you are fast or slow a well marked course should
have everyone together or at least finishing close together. This is
how a Hash should be rated. Was everyone finished within 5 minutes
of each other? BN's are a factor in gathering the group. If FRB's
all check the falses, this keeps everyone together, and finally, if
everyone carries chalk (yes, it washes off), marks the trail for the
slower hounds so they don't have to look for marked territory.
This Tuesday we'll be running from Mary Lou Retton Park in Fairmont
where Linda and her co hare Jess will be leading us through an
adventure of exponential proportions that they have been planning for
countless ages for our running enjoyment. Fairmont folk will probably
know how to get there easily, but anyone from Motown...Turn right off
the South Fairmont exit onto RT. 250 N. Follow 250 for about a
mile. Just past Woods Boat House, turn left onto Old Monongah Road.
Stay on this road 2-3 miles. Mary Lou Retton Park will be on your
left. Park down at the tennis courts or just outside the gates.
They may lock the gates before we finish. Afterwards we'll be dining
at the Sports Garden at the Middletown mall.
Till then,
ON- ON!!!!!!!
